hey guys,

Finally my first Rainwalker sheath arrived today... along with a very sweet Dumpster Mutt LE!

OK, I had to trade my YK LE for the Mutt, but I'm not sorry I did. The Mutt LE is a real sweetie, with a beautifully etched logo and it is sharp as heck.

First some pics of the sheath...

is that one of the ones from the BCS? I have a BATAC and was thinking about ordering one. Mine isn't an LE though. are they tight enough that the thickness would matter?

Nah, this one came to me via a dealer who picked it up at a show... Its not a LE though, its a Combat Grade, but with the snakeskin scales.

The sheath fits real well, very snug. Made to last a lifetime.

Here's the Mutt....

The sheath it came with ain't so grand, so I'm gonna get Jeff to do another one for me... kydex this time. Though I prefer leather, I like to carry a fixed blade like this one wherever possible, so kydex w/Tek-lok is more low profile.

The DM is real sweet... love to get a DF LE sometime to go with her...

yeah mine has the snakeskin handles but the blade is tan like halfway between sand and mud. Do you really do anything with the mutt or YK that justifies the weight and thickness? I always liked my smaller blades to slice better, but I work a lot with cardboard.

Hi Dark!

Welcome to The Yard! That is belated because you sure are the KING of the Low Posters Society!

In a nutshell....YES!

I rarely cut cardboard or open mail ever. BUT... he said in a loud clear voice I DO play outside quite a bit! I need my fixed blade knives to be able to dig a fire pit in rock hard Wisconsin clay. To split branches off dear trees for a fire. To pry open things that are in need or prying.

I do a ton of weekend vacation time at our local State Park and I do Axe/hatchet work all the time with my Mutt and Dog Father. The Mutt has even been used as a "step up" into a tree for my daughter when she needed to retrieve a lost item. I whacked it into the trunk about three feet up and she stood on it to reach into the tree limbs then climb to her lost treasure.

The Mutt is shaving sharp and un-phased by my abuse.

I have always said and ever will say Scrap Yard Blades...I would stake my family's very lives on them NOT failing!

I believe it in my heart. They will NEVER let us down. And part.. quite a bit of the confidence comes from the thickness and weight. It and the testing done shows it to be one of the most superior steel blades in the world today.

Keep in mind Dark that these are HARD USE blades. Not Gerber type hunting/small game knives.
These are made to exceed all the limits of those other brands by such a margin that they are in a class above all other knives.

The Busse Family of Blades.

Enjoy The Yard dark! And Dan, no need to send me money for that commercial.
It's free and from the heart.

LONG LIVE THE YARD!!!

Peace.

hey Prince,

Thanks for the kind words...

You still own the ultimate RW sheath of course, but yes, its a great sheath, very well matched to the knife - and amazing value for money.

Dark: I found the YK quite fat for its size, but that is a bonus when batoning of course. The DM feels less chunky and came sharper from the factory. It also has a sharper point. I'm no SY expert but of the two, I definitely prefer the DMLE.

Glad to see that the sheath arrived safe and sound, especially with such a long journey. I'm glad you like it, looks like that color does work real well with those handles. I would imagine after a little use the color in the handles will be even more vibrant and look even better. I've seen some snake skin handles that have had a coat of oil or wax applied to them to really bring the color out. Not to say that they don't look great now, but I've seen some really colorful snake skin handles out there, that have been treated to bring out the color more.

At any rate, thanks for sharing. Enjoy the sheath!

Now we need some pic from out in the field!

Hidy Jeff,

The flash blew some of the colour out of the handles - they are really quite something in the flesh.

You're right - it does need to get out and get used. Working on that...!
