Don't know why but I have always liked the "reverse" grip better. And with Spike (hey neat name for a knife huh?) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> That is the grip that feels the MOST comfortable although either way does not feel bad, and I mean either forward or reverse grip.

I agree, I think it could have a lot to do with the blade angle too, for example, the blade protrudes forward on my karambit, pointing forward parallel to the long bones in my arm. I think the Emerson projects more out to the side of the hand, which I think would feel more "right" in a forward grip.

When I grip the Emerson in a forward grip, the point or tip is at a 90 degree angle to my arm, and it is pointing straight forward of course.

Held in the reverse grip the tip or point is just a few degrees depressed from sticking out that 90 degree angle. I hope you can understand what I am talking about.

I do, and even though I've never had the opportunity to handle one, I think the Wave would feel quite different, more like a traditional folding knife. I'd imagine they'd handle a bit differently in a confrontation too.

I had thought about getting the super karambit but the handle length on it is supposed to be 5 1/2 inches. A bit longer than I thought I wanted. I'm glad now that I got the smaller one, fits my hand like a glove!

That's the way it should be too, Randy. If it fits you right, you'll never need more. I don't know if you've ever had any knife fighting training, but I would highly recommend some if you haven't. With that knowledge, and that blade, I fear for the attacker that crosses your path.

Anywhere else, folks would probably truly think I was nuts. But I will set or stand and practice blocks and "slaps" and then come in with the knife I have, and it usually has been in a slashing move. Not all that often a stabbing movement. I think that If you can create a larger wound you have a better chance of "Running" the other guy off. All I have has was SOME (Read that as not much) training in the police academy I went to. (It was only 4 hours on Friday nights, and 8 on Saturday and Sunday for 3 months.) But I am always going over stuff in my mind and TRYING to act out blocks and sweeps and slashing thrusts.

And thank goodness, with street punks a large part of the battle is attitude. If you present an attitude of You're MY puppy now Bit.. you can defuse the situation and if you have a blade and are willing to use it THAT will usually end the confrontation. And if not, NO HOLDS BARRED! If someone attacks me or my loved one(S) I WILL find someway to hurt them.

Well I have really enjoyed talking to you El. Hopefully neither one of us will ever have to use a knife or gun for any type of defense. But if it comes to It I know that we both have the "intestinal fortitude" to do so. I need to go spend some time with Patty, I've got to hit the sack in about an hour. So until later on my friend, Stay safe, stay happy stay healthy and get rich!

Bill, thank you so much for your earlier offer and the directions to where I could get one. I thought I would have to pass for quite a while on it, but I actually (somehow) made an extra 100 last month and with Patty being sick we haven't got "out and about" as much as we were so it just all added up more than I had thought. Plus I checked out the manufacturers website and on a lark went to their prestige dealer list and found it at Davesknifeworld. I ordered it on the 16th, it went out on the 17th and I got it on the 20th. Pretty fast from Ohio. Couldn't believe I got for the price (189.00) which is kinda pricy I guess, but it sure beats 214 and UP!

The Karambit has been a grail knife for me for many years. The itch got even worse when Patty bought me a CRKT ringer about 3 years ago.
I am happy for you my friend
