i personally dont "NEED" a dfle,i "WANT" one and it sucks when it breaks and just because i wasnt in a combat zone when it happened doesnt mean i'm happy about it ......and magnum is right that this has been happening to much, regardless of warranty.call me a whine [censored] but i dont feel like taking the time and money to ship it back.this is my third blade i have had to ship back in the last six months and two of them where busse kin of S7.
how long ago where the CA's made???thats at least how long this faulty S7 has been in use and then the kept using it weather knowingly or not to make DFLE's.i wonder if the CGDF's that you guys are getting in the mail right now are from the same batch or have the same problem.mistakes happen and i really dont know who to point the finger at but its evident that someone somewhere is asleep at the wheel.
you wanna talk about testing your gear in the front yard with a camera, well you can bet thats what i'm gonna do with anything i own made of S7. OK, so i am going to sympathize with him if his claims of sending 3 back are true.... i mean wow...thats gotta be frustrating.

to clarify though, two of them where busse kin.one was a ranger custom that didnt malfunction at all,it just came to me kind of messed up.
i'm really not mad at SY,i'm just frustrated in general.to me its more important how hard you try as opposed to how well you do and i know that dan gives %100 into making the best knives he can and he does a great job at it.
and like i said in the beginning, the knife kept going afterwards and really impressed me.

Silence is acceptance.
3x is excessive, have you asked them to cover the shipping charges?
As far as "happening too much"....out of ALL the knives made a handful are faulty. We here involved in the Busse Forums are just more vocal about our knives every time a scratch in the coating occurs, we take a picture....every time we hit a rock or nail...we take a picture. So it can seem like anything happening is an epidemic! Can you imagine how many other knives from other companies get returned for being defective?

Man, that’s pretty crappy. Too bad it happened to you twice. That’s why I always like to beat my new knives with all my strength to make sure they’re 100%.

I had a DF chip out like that around a year ago. Dan and Patti sent a new one right away, and I've been beating the tar out of the replacement ever since. My confidence in ScrapYard hasn't diminished one bit. I don't care how good any company's product is. Minor problems simply will happen. It's just a matter of time. I judge a company based on consistency in execution, and their willingness to accomodate the customer when the inevitable happens. Scrapyard has proven their value to me. Who else makes a product like theirs at that price point....heck....at any price point?

i'm not sure i understand the "silence is acceptance".who was silent and when???
as far as asking them to pay for the shipping charges,i dont think i should have to ask and i'm not like that.nobody offered to with the CA.
as far as this happening to much............it is what it is.we're not talking about scratches in the coating.i'm sure other knife companies have lots of problems and thats why i dont buy their knives.i spend the extra money for busse kin because you get what you pay for in this world.
i dont know how many their has to be to be an epidemic.i also dont know how many DFLE's or CA's where made so we cant get a percentage either.
VANCE,
thats good to know about the BM's.i've been looking at some autos

Silence is Acceptance....meaning those who never stand and voice their opinions, will never see change. In the earlier threads you mention you had a couple Busse blades fail on you and then you mentioned about how it, "i dont feel like taking the time and money to ship it back" Tell Dan or Patti this and they might work it out for you.

that is a bum deal. i have 5 sy S7 blades and no problems. I beat the yg so hard i hurt after. it is amazing. i really do believe that the problem may not come from the same batch but as a percentage sy blades have an extremely high level of quality. every blade i own is perfect, just last week i received a non busse blade in sub par condition, boy was i bumed. so i hear you, but busse has always done very well, i hope everthing is straightened out

That's a bummer northern. It would be interesting to hear from SY about what they believe the issue is. I know Dan and Patti will take care of you. Many other manufactures would chalk it up to "abuse" and you would just have to deal with it. I have had this experience before myself with another manufacturer.
