My problem isnt with not getting the DM yet, it's with them holding onto several hundred dollars of my money for well over a month already, not replying to emails and not providing a phone number like any other reputable business. The fact that I have no clue whether my knives are in the mail or if they'll be holding onto more of my money for another month doesnt help either.

All I'm saying is that it isnt professional, and if you disagree then we have some pretty irreconcilable differences in our definition of professional.

your frustration's justified, sketchbag. the success of businesses these days is based more on customer service and satisfaction than product quality. dan's move to ohio, plus the growth we've been hearing about, will probably lead to an improvement in the service department at scrap yard. better organization, more people to run the store and ship the knives, and faster production.

until now, it's pretty much just been patti. great as she is, the lower price of scrappers means higher demand so they need more hands on deck. hence the move. i know it's irritating waiting for them to get to it, but i'm sure they will. that's probably little comfort but it's all i can offer.

I feel for you guys who don't have yours yet. But I wouldn't get too worked up over any that are up for sale already. Unless of course you ordered several with the hopes of marking them up and putting them up on the exchange right away, in which case I would say that you are less upset about not having a knife and more upset about missing a business opportunity. That is not directed at anyone, just a general observation. If your name is in the hat for one, you will get it, patience is absolutely necessary when dealing with a new branch of the Busse Knife Group tree. Dan and Patti have one heck of a logistical mess to deal with along the way and probably have many more things come up as they settle. They could have just as easily dangled the DCDMs in front of us before the move and not offered them until they were completely settled. How crazy would that have made us?

Sketchbag, you have a legitimate gripe, but don't be surprised if some of these guys are defensive on behalf of Dan and Patti. When I first started collecting Busse Combat knives, a 4-6 week wait would have been more than welcome, heck for some of them a 4 month wait would have been welcome. I can only imagine how much lag time there will be as they get settled in OH.

In the future I would suggest not paying with paypal as it seems to drag your funds out right away. I know that the funds are there and you want to use them. I got one of their debit cards attached to my account, I can pay using my paypal balance even at places on the net who don't take paypal. The seller puts a hold on your funds, so they are essentially unavailable for use, but they are still yours until the charge is completed.

Again I caution patience and cool heads. If you get easily worked up and expect instant gratification (thanks to our modern society), then buying a Busse of any kind may not be a good idea for you. All will work out and for those who have dropped between the cracks, I am more than sure Dan and Patti will compensate you for the trouble, I have never dealt with a more conscientious group as I have found in the Busse clan.

All I'm saying is that it isnt professional, and if you disagree then we have some pretty irreconcilable differences in our definition of professional.

I don't know much about money or credit cards but...
I do know that you obviously don't have the knowledge (on this issue in particular) to suggest what you think is or isn't professional.
thats a pretty harsh statment considering what it seems you know.
you still have the right to say it I guess.
but here I go.

this is the way it works.
this is a small family run bussiness thats is growing everyday and I'm sure it's pretty hard to handle.
aside from that patti really does a great job.
anyways, the knives were said they were going to be shipped in 4 to 6 weeks.(what has it been? like 3 weeks?)
I don't see whats so hard to understand about this!
there were two releases, the people getting thiers now are the ones who got thiers on the first.
and I THINK some who got it on the first release will have to wait 4-6 weeks too, because they sold more than expected.

and if you havn't noticed on the forum, they are mocing right now and JUST now are able to get in communication with people.
they told us this multiple times.

I'm sure they don't have a phone number to call because they're moving, and unless I'm mistaken it's only been about 2 weeks since they've shipped and they've had your money for less than a month.
are you planing on spending it or something?
I don't think a bussiness could just trust that people will have the money when the knife is shipped.

you payed for the knife (or knives) and you'll get it.
I don't know much about this, but I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with holding on to the money that is theirs.

and if you think for a second that scrapyard isn't a reputable bussiness (not saying you said that) than I suggest finding one that fits you're definition of that,
because I'm not at all sure their is one that will match your definition.
scrapyard has given plenty of notice and told exactly what is happening and when you will get your knives.

you should probably look around the forum (pages 3-6 are loaded with this information that you probably lacked. if you didn't lack that information then I'm REALLY confused what you're so mad about) before making a strong post like that.

I'm sorry, I just don't understand your being frustrated at all.

I guess I hit every point I wanted to make (some maybe more than once) and I might be a little off on a few things (I'm sure if I am the dogs will correct me) but... yeah.

I DO understand maybe your lack of understanding on the subject though, I was pretty confused at first too.
but you can't make strong statements if you don't know.

and I'm sure Dan and patti will not let you down.
relax, it'll make the wait easier.

I havent gotten my DCDM and I STILL havent gotten my refund from the DogFather run, or any reply to my emails. I'm getting pretty fed up with this, they dont even provide a phone number to their customers, it's pretty unprofessional to be so untimely with a refund and have no lines of communication open.
I was mad when I thought they were holding my money for the dogfather return, but normally they just kind of hold the money (like you said) and when they let it go, it doesn't like... show up as going back into your account, it just goes back in cause they haven't actually "taken" the money yet.

I was kinda upset about the dogfather thing, but they went really fast so, what do you expect?

but the DMDC, idk what your complaining about honestly...

and thats just my opinion and it's just your opinion.
(even though pretty harsh and unjustified to me)

oh and sorry about not being able to explain the credit card stuff to you, I don't handle that stuff, but it happened to my mom.
they never really "HAD" the money, so to speak, so if you're spending, you might not notice it got put back.

You dont understand because you obviously have some kind of reading comprehension problem, as you've missed the point entirely.

Ive already made it perfectly clear that my problem isnt with not having the DCDM yet. I'm not going to bother reiterating myself because if you couldnt understand the first time repeating it isnt likely to help.

sorry, but I just wanted to add the extra info in case you might question it later.
I figured it might save some time.

I still see no problem, it's that you don't have any contact with them?
well I explained that too.
because they have your money??
if they do infact have the money from the DFCG release I could understand.
but for the DMDC I don't.

but anyways, you can contact them now so hopefully it gets settled.
I guess I still don't really understand the problem though, but if you don't want you don't have to bother trying to explain it to me.
I'm normally a little slow at understanding things anyway so, it could be frustrating for you.

hope this gets solved.

I am with sketchbag on this one. I understand his problem and complaint. I am in the same sort of position. I do business with a large number of knife makers and the most important aspect(other than the quality of the knife) is there ability to service and provide communication to the customer. If Patti or Dan would have simply returned an email there would more than likely not have been an issue. We are all adults here as well as customers. All that I ask for is to be treated with respect.

My issue is about communication. I have had an issue since the DF release and have yet to receive a response from anyone at SY. That was way before we were notified about the move. I don't care about the money as much as I do about the lack of respect by not returning a returned email. Don't get me wrong the money is important, I am only a E-6 on active duty and money isn't exactly falling off the trees.

Also another thing that is bothering me is the personal attacks on this forum. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It is not fair to attack someone because you do not feel the same way. It seems that a lot of the members on this forum feel it is there duty to defend or protect SY knives. The owners are responsible for this not the members of a forum. I am sure that if anyone of us went and bought something and had to take it back and received a "blank look" from the salesperson they would be a little aggravated. That is basically what is happening to sketchbag and myself.

Patti finally initiated the refund from the dogfather order, 49 days latter.

I understand theyre in a move, but excuses and good intentions dont change the facts. The professional thing to do would be settle all accounts and unfinished business first, and in lieu of that at least a courtesy email informing those with pending business that they'll be incommunicado rather than leaving it up to the customer to wonder why they're not getting any reply.

If anything I'd describe the whole thing as being disorganized and haphazard, but if thats your ideal of business done professionally I pity you for the experiences that led you to that conclusion.

I'm just telling it how it is, it isnt a slight against Dan and Patti personally and there's no reason for anyone here to be all defensive about it. Theyre not infallible, their company isnt a perfectly oiled machine, and there's no need to pretend otherwise. Trying to deny legitimate customer feedback isnt going to help improve things either.

If Dan and/or Patti feel that my opinion is out of line than they can say so and I can take my business elsewhere, but I dont need to argue with someone who 1) doesnt know all the details and 2) doesnt even understand the details presented, over whether or not I have a "legitimate" gripe.

Easy fellas. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I'm sorry I started this mess.

All I was looking for was a DCDM Support group.

Not to go off on a tangent, but I've noticed some people really zealously defend Scrap Yard in a fanboy like manner. Maybe these people think that Dan and/or Patti are incapable of handling it themselves and that theyre doing them a favor, but that couldnt farther from the truth. If anything those people just deter others from frequenting this forum, and considering how heavily dependent ScrapYard is on the this forum for doing business all it accomplishes is chasing people off. It's not like these people have the means of resolving the issues at hand, all they do is exasperate the situation.
