If you shoot a buzzard you'll have to drag his nasty carcass into the woods...Vic did the smart thing. Like the Pringles potato chip commercials used to say " go ahead, we'll make more!"

we get a lot of coyotes around these parts, even near my house in the burbs. Up in southern Washington where my family owns a place, Bald Eagles roost around the property. Its sad to hear, EMF, that you are scared of birds (I don't handle bees or centipedes very well, so all things being equal) because I've always loved birds. I'm taking ornithology (in addition to environmental science) as my senior science electives next year

Have you hugged your camp knife today?

The first time my buddy from New York - "the island" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />) visited us, he came downstairs and said "did you hear all the coyotes last night ? They sounded like they were in your yard!". I told him they probably were in my yard! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> We have a LOT of them around here!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

You should'a told him to be glad you let him sleep in the house instead of a tent in the yard! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I wonder if vultures are good eating. They have a lot of nerve taunting a guy with Bussekin blades.

More like the rare California Condor. Kind of like spotted owl, but chewy like a manatee. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Yes, they do fine work. At sunset today I did my usual patrol of the compound perimeter.

When I went to check on the raccoon carcass in the bush, the "lookout" spotted me. There was a rustling and flurry in the trees as the buzzards left.
