I realize that this really should be addressed to the Swamp but in as much as many of us frequent both forums I'll try here first (it's a little slow over there right now).

1) How many generations of HR's are there and how do they differ?
2) Is the HRLM considered to be a generation or is it something different entirely?
3) And what would be the closest knife in terms of size, geometry, balance etc. ever turned out by the Yard?

So then Gen. 1 and the YKCG would be almost the same knife? (or something?)

Smaller choil on the CGYK. Different steels. Pretty close to the same knife. Both are outstanding blades.

HRLM has a similar blade shape with Micarta handles with different shape

I don't mean throw a wrench in the mix, but don't forget the Rat Shop HR Variant with a serated spine, they were all Gen 2 with Res-C and all black. there was 4, 5, and 6 pattern serations. I don't have one but I came close. I have a Gen 2 HR I got at Blade west 2005 and I love it it was my first Busse family blade.
