CnD - keep in mind that bld522 is only SPECULATING, not necessarily stating facts. The Busses run their companies as they see fit - which has proven to be very succesful

right you are, Sir Klink, speculation only. I was just trying to clarify Bld's point to EMF.

rule of thumb with Busse kin: "nobody don't know nothing 'bout anything"

Have you hugged your camp knife today?

With

Dumpster Mutt at $69.95
Dumpster Mutt DC at $79.95
S6 at $89.95
And original D2 Bog Dog at $88.95

I don't understand why this should cost over $70.00. ... with exception to unknown supply and demand.
I was thinking around $70.00 considering size and type of steel and always hoping for less for my personal need to save money. But, I won't be surprised if higher.

From a lot of comparison between old to new Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard Res-C, micarta and G-10:

Micarta has often been a $50 up-charge over Res-C.
G-10 has often been a $20 up-charge over micarta. (Much more for Busse/INFI! )

$138.95 for HCLE - $70.00 = $68.95

...... but, I know there are other factors in pricing for Dan and Jerry.

There continues to appear to be a high interest in this knife. But, price is always a factor here at the yard. No doubt Dan knows this.

As mentioned a few times in this thread, Jerry and Dan have every right to sell it for what it will sell for. Their call.

My preference is still more about LOTS of people being able to get a great knife at a great price than Limited numbers for the secondary market. So, I hope Dan and Jerry make a ton of these and everybody who wants one and trys to get one when released gets one.

Satin finish shouldn't cost that much (IMO). But, I do prefer satin!
LE #'s don't mean much (to me) or cost much. I would take my JYD # if I can get it, otherwise, I would be happy to save a couple of bucks (or more) to skip any other number.
I don't care for the large print 154CM on the blade, but I understand why it is on the blade. I would prefer smaller though. ..... Makes me wonder if these might be released in a different steel some day in the future.

I don't mind saying I love what I see about this knife. And a great design in a knife does have it's value even if it costs the same to make as a lesser priced knife.

Still, funds are VERY tight for me right and, and personally, my attempts or justification for buying a spare or not will be determined by price.

I wish I had more spare funds and hope for a great price. IF I had more spare funds, I could easily see myself buying 3-5 of these Puppies for "USE". I like the design that much. This is a design I would look to be stashing everywhere - if I could afford to.

Too good a design and potential bang-for-the-buck - if priced right, to not use.

For my purposes, I look to the Yard for great users at good prices and not for rare collectibles with high demand and high prices. Dan often says himself: "Bang-for-the-Buck".

No doubt there will be PLENTY of investment purchases. Again, I am fine with that. It helps many people "down the line". But, I still hope for most who want and try to buy up front to be able to get.

I went a bit higher than you did, Mac. I guessed between $109.95 and $119.94. The reason I went that high is because, if Dan sells the MPLE much cheaper than that, it could have a parisitic effect on HCLE sales. Then again, perhaps Jerry had Eric set up a pre-order for the HCLE knowing that the MPLE would hit the market before HCLE orders closed. That way he wouldn't be hurt if people cancelled their HCLE orders in favor of MPLEs.

He's a clever one, that Jerry.

I was actually surprised when I saw this MPLE being released prior to the HCLE shipping.

I would have thought they wouldn't over-lap these two.

I hope that doesn't affect the pricing of the MPLE. But, it very well might.

The HCLE is going to have some who prefer it with G10. But..... we'll see. ????

I think "some" parasitic affect is inevitable.

I voted a high price but hope I'm wrong ...but after all, if you want something badly enough, price is secondary.

I hope those of us who want users rather than for the secondary "Mark-up" will have a chance at getting a Mud Puppy. If it had not of been announced I would have put in a pre-order for the Swamps HC. But I prefer the design and grip of the MD.

All one can do is hope for a the best but expect the worse.

I voted for the $59.95-$69.94 range . This is an interesting little knife when it comes to a price point . The Hairy Carry didn't tempt me at all . If this knife comes in at $60.00 or below I'll get two . If it comes in above $90.00 I probably won't get one at all .

Just a nudge back towards the title (not to demean this interesting and active thread!!) I voted for $80-$90 but hope it will be less.. It is little and is made of discount sourced steel so it should be a classic 'bang-for-the-Buck' Yard knife.. <<Or not>>. I love the design so unless Dan totally loses his mind I'll be in for one.
