I liked the "anvil" that was implemented near the front of the Becker Brute (BK1) for batoning. However, I don't know it that's a copywrite/trademark/patented feature, or if it's considered public domain.

Didn't the Puma White Hunter have a similar feature?

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

yeah, I don't see a use for the swedge really...
but even with one I would still get it.
and the SARaquatch and s7 are the main blade I'd like to get for myself too.

Vic, the Puma White Hunter and Wilkinson Sword Dartmoor knife both had a similar feature for batoning..

I call for a DK-47 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

The "DOG KENSEI" 47 cm in SR-77. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Though... an S7 would be quite nice, too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

yeah, the swedge helped me resist the sarsquash. the anvil is a great feature. i wish i had a brute.

I didn't care for the swedge either, so it wasn't that hard to resist. A scrapper 7 or 8 would be great.
My brother has a Becker Brute.
He loves it, but had a problem with the coating interacting with the sap in the wood when he was batoning.
Got pretty sticky and made batoning tougher for him, so he's asked me to make it nice and shiny like Horn Dog makes his knives.
That should get rid of that sticking problem I think.

As much as I like the SARsquatch if Scrap Yard makes it I hope they leave the false edge off the top and leave the point more like the Chopweiler. We were taling about this at BLADE and it seems it would be much more useful for batoning that way. I would say that the Scrapper 7 prototype they had at BLADE weighed less than the Yard Guard and had a more narrow blade. If it is made like that I don't think it would be a chopper. I vote for a ScrapYard Chopweiler!!!

Here are some comparison picks:

Scrapweiler LE with Scrapweiler in green (even if green is not an option - it was easier to photochop back when.):

[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]

Scrapweiler LE with stripped Camp Tramp (* Notice just slightly dropped tip with slightly more shallow belly towards front. Thicker height in middle with gradual hump in spines similar to Chopweiler's. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> ):

[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]

Green Scrapweiler Concept with Chopweiler (My Concept Scrapweiler has just a hair more drop in the point and just a little shallower belly than the Chopweiler.):

[Linked Image from i80.photobucket.com]

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

My concept is a hair longer than the Camp Tramp and about the same length OAL as the Chopweiler.

The Camp Tramp is 12.4375" OAL
The Chopweiler is 13.125" OAL

My Camp Tramp is about .235" thick without coating.
My Chopweiler is about .240" thick with coating.

*** .22" - .25" works great for me and I don't really want thicker.

I vote for about .23" - .25" thick tops. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

*** For the record, even though my green Scrapweiler Concept appears to have a swedge, I vote for NO Swedge!!! It is MUCH easier to add a swedge for those who want one than to remove it for those who don't want one. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

It has been a year, but I seem to remember the Scrapper 7 prototype as being light and fast in the hand, like the S6. Even so, it may still chop pretty well. The DFLE is pretty light for a 10" Bowie, and it chops very well. I'd still like to see a Scrapweiler, but a Scrapper 7 would be nice, too.

Is that what that anvil section of the White Hunter is for?

The Puma White Hunter is a gorgeous knife that’s left me scratching my head for years. It’s a purpose built knife—designed in collaboration with African white hunters, no less—yet it baffles me. I can see the bullnose shape for skinning, but then why is the spine in front of that anvil sharpened? To open the rhino’s guts? If…oh, never mind. I’m pleased to have one feature explained to me.
