I love the big Res-C handle like on the S6 and larger knives but having the same design only smaller on the smaller knives is not good for anyone who has larger hands. I think the YKCG is the best of the small S7 knives but since I got a SAR5 it has become obvious that the front part of the handle is a nuisance and should be removed. ![[Linked Image from img2.putfile.com]](http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/7/19621331769.jpg) If you made a RES-C version of the SAR5 handle and cut away the choil you would add a whole inch of handle to the knife without making it any longer or the edge any shorter. You could even cut a YKCG if you wanted to Mod it. I would but I sold mine because I replaced it with the SAR5. Another bonus is it would be lighter and more comfortable and even cheaper because it uses less materials and is less complex machining. Since I am gushing about the SAR5 I should mention the very nice convex full height bevel. That is pretty slick. I should also mention the way the pommel is flat so it can be hammered on. If it was a comp model it would be perfect.

I like things the way they are, my hands fit the small res-c handles perfectly, but I can see where you are coming from.
I've talked to a few people who dislike the handles on the SAR5 and selling because so. I handled it once briefly but forgot what it felt like.

The answer to me is the mudder handle, which fits large hands and small hands.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I agree.
As comfy as the Res-C is, my YKLE has a smaller handle that I anticipated. I had to paracord wrap that bugger but that made the knife feel a little bit more awkward.
I think the idea of having the Mudders being incorporated more in the SYKCO line would be wonderful.
The knives with the mudders, personally, have too small of blade to be useful, to me at least.

The mudder handle is amazingly comfy and useful imho. The SS4 is very practical- just add a YG or DF for a perfect do-it-all combo.

That is a great idea with the mudders. I am a big fan and they look cool. The SAR5 has a great handle design but the micarta has very aggressive ridges which could be why people don't like it. It is designed to work well with gloves. It kind of feels like a Strider cord wrap or my katana.
Sorry for the negative sounding title.
I actually have very small hands so i don't have a problem with the YKCG or the other small TES-C handles and Dan has added a choil to the Mutts which helps but when I had the YKCG sitting on top of the SAr5 to compare the blades it seemed so obvious that cutting off thet chunk at the front of the handle would be a big improvement.
My SAR5 is on it's way to Eric for pants. Some knives like the DFLE need leather some like the HairyCarry can suit both kydex or leather but the SAR5 is definitly kydex.

Love the feel of the mudders on the Mudpuppy and SS4. Very comfortable design.
Also, the choil on the Mudpuppy is PERFECT! In a perfect world my favorite little knife, the Active Duty would have the same choil as the Mudpuppy.

I can see what you mean, but I think that is why the original Howling Rats had a good size choil to choke up on the knife with, I have large hands and the handel by itself is a bit on the small side if you are keeping your entire hand within the handel's "curves"

A good sak or small folder would probably be more useful. Besides, people have tried to IWB the SS4 and the mudder handles are too fat. Hence, it feels that a larger blade would be needed so it can ride on down the thigh instead of IWB. I wouldn't mind a larger size mudder on a DF or YG. I think that would be quite interesting.

I guess I'll be the designated heretic this week
I'm not that fond of the SS4 handle. It's very bulky in proportion to the blade size. I would take the small Busse basic handle over the mudder anytime. For me the mudder handle is "just OK".

Thank you!!! That's exactly what I was going for and why I don't see any of the knives with mudders as useful. I would love mudders on a few of the larger SYKCO knives but now, I think the blade is just too small.

The size of the mudder handle is why the SS4 is not my companion to the DFLE. It is to big for a piggyback sheath. The HC is that same blade size but a very nice g10 handle. It is heavier than the mudder.
The Mudder is kind of like the Gerber Gator handle or the CRKT Cascade. Comfortable ,secure but bulky. I EDC my SS4 but strapped to my backpack not on my person. It is a great system for summer when I carry my pack everywhere but I use a smaller knife in winter because I only wear the pack while riding the motorbike. I like a neck knife or something that can be tossed in my pocket. Last winter it was my Chinook3 or Police folder.
Funny how my favourite scrappers were the smallest(SS4 although now the Muppy is smaller)and the largest the DFLE. As far as I am concerned those 2 knives are the top of the Scrapyard line. The S6LE would be in here but I am pouting because I don't have one.
