I would prefer the S-7 or S-9, but a stainless skele would be interesting. I would buy one, and yes - Unsub is a GENIUS!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I went YES, but a folder would work too. For some reason I actually think I'd buy a stainless skeleton blade (or three), but not an SR77 one. How about a stainless SYKCO cigar cutter?

I don't really think they should make any more knives out of 154CM, if people are wanting something with a little more corrosion resistance (I still don't really see why they should) then maybe the Yard should be looking towards D2 !!!

I should have phrased the second answer better so people who want it in a different but still stainless steel like 12c27 could have picked it so if you do prefer a different steel even if it is a stainless you can click #2.
Thanks Klink ,you have been doing a great job as mod as well.
I am starting to warm to the 12c27 idea. I am a good sharpener and still am having a heck of a time with my HC.

I voted yes, but I really want the S7 first. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
An SR77 skelly would be fine with me too, but 154CM is good. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

You are a genius. But I would like to see a large SYK folder first. Something that would run away from the current pack of 154CM, ATS-34 and S30V offerings. Imagine a big folder in INFI <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> .

154cm is HARD to get sharp isn't it? I don't think 12c27 would have the same edge holding would it???
idk though.

i'm not that intimate with 154cm. i just got my first two samples when i got the mple and the zt0200, so i can't really comment on retention. i can tell you that 12c27 can attain a much thinner edge without fracturing than the powder metallurgy steels i'm familiar with. if 154cm is no exception, then edges are kept thicker deliberately to prevent damage. you can put a thick edge on 12c27 and it'll hold it just as well.

With the same thickness edges 154 will hold an edge longer and the powder steels are all different but 154 can be run quite thin. My Emerson was wicked sharp. The fact that it is so hard to sharpen (is remove metal) bodes very well for it's edge holding. It also says good things about the heat treat as I don't remember other companies 154 blades being this hard to remove metal on.
It might take a diamond or ceramic sharpener to make it easier although you can sharpen any knife with stone just "super" steels like 154 and S30V often take so darn long to remove metal that it seems impossible. I decided to take a break and get back at it after I am done my SH-E polishing.
I actually prefer a skelly like a Swarden to a folder so long as you have a good sheath. A quality sheath with a pocket clip and you can wear a skelly clipped to your pants pocket just like a folder only thinner(so more concealable)and faster to get out. My preferred method is around the neck where the Swarden is ideal.
Seven ,is that your dog in your avatar? He is adorable. Almost as cute as Whichdogs "your an animal" puppy.

Emerson 154 CM and Benchmade ATS-34 are quick to edge with a diamond stone, followed by few swipes down 800 and 1200 grit sticks. We will see how difficult SYK/SWKW 154CM proves to be once the HC4 arrives.
