At School we drove the John Deer Gators they are great little rigs they can go anywhere and haul any thing you can fit in the bed.

That Crash Axe looks like it has a good home too.

chopping and burning are so cathartic individually. i love that they naturally occur together.

The coals are still hot from yesterday. The palm fronds will get things started while I split some maple for sustained heat.

First I need to dump this load of debris.


I tried splitting some maple with the CA, but didn't get far. The FFBM is king at this chore.

The golok did a little better than the CA.


Then I tried the CA on that oak limb. It just bounced off, even with a good edge.

The lighter full convex golok bit deep and chopped right through it.


We have ignition!

The right tools make all the difference. That maul is useless, too obtuse to bite. The FFBM is a better splitter. The crash axe is ok for small stuff, but not as useful as the Golok or the DFLE for this type of work. It is, after all, a crash axe, not a normal axe. The Fiskars pruners are great for cutting up the small stuff quickly to fit in the burn barrel. And of course the leaf rake and pitch fork are real back savers.

So far, the DFLE and my golok are my best yard knives, and I have a bunch of them.

My neighbor across the road has a Gator. It is really nice. It's a bit bigger than my little mule. Her boys love it. Happy birthday, James.

There are some tasty blue crabs here. Lots of work to clean them. Our rulers and overlords in Atlanta now require us to buy a license to catch them, though.

I would love a tractor, but my neighbor has one and he bush hogs for me on occasion. But my home made high-tech fire pit is super efficient. It burns up stuff so fast I can hardly keep it fed. Besides, I like whacking stuff with choppers!
