Vic, Bear seems to carry a cheap and nasty divers knife which he knocks absolute hell out of (batoning with a rock?!!) still it hasn't broken so far.. While I'm certainly not ex SAS unlike Bear, I'd prefer something a little bigger and more choppy, like say a S6! Ooo, handy theres one now!

Bld, if you buy knives because you like them and want to have them around, that's a good enough reason to collect, so good for you (and keep helping us support the yard!)

..I'm happy to stick with CGs, Tom. My knife-buying budget is limited. I need to stretch it as far as it will go. And it will go a whole lot further in the Yard than in either the Swamp or the Trough.

The most important thing for me is to have an example of every model Dan makes, not necessarily every variant of every model. And of course, if I leave the variants alone and Dan keeps his prices down, there's a better chance that I'll actually have the funds available to spend on new Scrap Yard models as they're released.

One other thing (and I may get flamed for this). I hope Dan never releases another INFI-based knive. I understand the situation surrounding the SS4 and I also understand that the pricing of that knife was simply fantastic. But it's just not what the Yard is all about . . . at least it's not for me. The Yard should be a place where someone with a small budget and a big dream can purchase high-quality, high-volume, low-price knives. It's about a DF at $139.95 and a S6 at $89.95. Those are the kinds of knives and price points I hope will exemplify what the Yard stands for, not a 4" EDC at $139.95
I hope Dan throws Lots of different steels at us! Infi, SR-77, SR-101, and more! I hope he experiments, mixes it up, then we can vote with our wallets.. or discuss here 1st, thru polls, etc.

I see where you're coming from bld, but you must admit.. ~$139 was a Hell of a price for Infi! If Dan makes it (no matter the steel!) it'd be made the "no frills" (or lower frills) ScrapYard way.. it Would BE affordable compared to what's out there! ..and be able to go toe-to-toe against the higher end stuff!

I'd like to see Swords & Bigger stuff from ScrapYard also! I'd buy a ScrapYard Sword in a heartbeat.. because I *know* I'd have to spend 2-3x the $ or more to get this performance Anywhere else!
I wouldn't mind seeing "Pricier" stuff from Dan.. cuz i *know* it'd be Great stuff, and it would Kick even MORE butt than the competitors!

/2 cents

Bld, if it makes you feel any better mine only get out when I go hiking and then aren't used all that much.. It's just nice to know it's there in my pack if things go 'pear shaped' (badly wrong).

I saw a post by someone on BF that described himself as an "acquirer". I think that describes me. Most collectors to seem to have a plan. I don't. If I see a knife I really really like and can afford, I generally just buy it. I have a few customs and a random bunch of production knives. I'm sure there will be a couple knives that never get used that I like just because they look cool. I have purchased a couple knives that I thought would be users but upon receiving them decided they were so nice that I wasn't going to be the first user. Some of these will end up being gifts for family members or others. Some may eventually see hard use. I don't stress about it. At a minimum it's a fun hobby, at its best it's a fun hobby *and* I find some neat tools I discover I just can't live without. It's all good fellas!

Ya'Dan, but it turned out pretty good didn't it!!!?!! Tom

You are so right, 23 years and no gun fire. My buddies lost a bunch with their bets

When you meet the right one there is not much you can do about it.

Well said POP!! In fact, the DogFather LE I buy is destined to go to my Grandson eventually. I'm just not in a big rush to pass it on!! Tom

I understand your point about INFI but when I got my hands on the scrap pile I just could not help myself.

My focus will always be the best performance for the lowest possible price
