With a 7" SOD, I figure it will out work the BK9 on just about anything. Do any of you fellas with the BK9 find any upside over your 7" SY knives?

That's a tough question to answer.
I've got a Ratweiler and the BK9 that I use as choppers.
My BK9 is like Horn Dog's. It's made of 0170-6C and really is a very good
chopper like HD says. Arguably, I would have to say that the BK9 is the better
chopper of the two, but not by much.
It's lighter than the Ratweiler, so you don't get as tired as quickly, but I
don't use it as much as my Ratweiler because of the handle ergonomics.
I have a hard time gripping it when I'm chopping because the handle is very
smooth and slippery. Others have put grip tape on the handles to take care of
that problem, but I have small hands, and the handle is almost too wide as it
is. If I were to put grip tape on the handle, I think it would be too wide for
me to comfortably handle.
I've also thought a lot about taking the handles off and putting thinner wood handles
on, and will probably do that at some point down the road, but like the rest on
here, I'm waiting for the SOD to come out. I'm thinking that it will chop way
better than the BK9, so I might not be using the BK9 very much after the SOD
gets here.
