There may be some variance in the size of the hard sleeve. I bet that the SOD would fit if you boiled the insert and then custom fit the SOD into it. There are a few threads that I have seen about custom fitting the insert so that should give you some options for the Spec Ops sheath. I would expect that the canvas part of the sheath would work for the SOD as is.

Really? My DMCG which is fatter then the SOD, fits in my stock spec-ops combat master sheath fine. Length I don't think, might have to step it up to the larger size, but thickness should be ok. It's not the width of the SOD that is the problem, it is the height of the blade that makes it a no go.

Quote from earlier post: The SOD weighs 15.6 oz, handle identical, blade 7 1/2", clip shorter, 0.255" thick, 1.795" tall The Tramp weighs 13.9 oz, handle identical, blade 7 3/8", clip longer, 0.244" thick, 1.775" tall So- we are talking this ***1.795" tall *** that makes a " no go" ?? The Width/Heigth of the SOD does not fit the stock liner. I'm not sure which way will be better Modding the stock liner or just making a new one. The thickness probably wouldn't be that much of an issue if it wasn't for the other but combined it don't fit...

Yep, it's the height of the blade that presents the biggest problem. Like Rainwalker said, maybe if the blade was thinner you could flex the sleeve to accomodate the height but as things are I'm afraid it's a no go unless you reform the sleeve.

Haven't gotten my SOD yet, but is the height of the blade greater than the old style Ratweiler? Vox you're right. I did boil my insert to soften it up then put the blade in and formed insert around it. With the Rat, the fit is snug, but it does fit in there with little trouble. If I can, I'll take pics of it today. Dave

My old style Ratweiler is 1.781" high; the SOD is a smidge taller.

Hahah, whoops. I knew something wasn't right when you said it didn't fit the sheath, height! Got it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

dang I was going to buy a large spec-opt sheath. I thought for sure they would fit. Do I have any other "cheap" option?

I'll be sure to add my two cents when I get my SOD 'cause I got a Tramp as well! I just received my Tramp in a trade and I can't wait to get the two out and do some comparison tests between the two!!!
