That's the lot I think save for duplicates....must have been early...not that many there...I see Ronybear was first (again) from the other photo's on the Busse Forum from earlier years....also some of the other faces look familiar as well from those same pic's of previous years...looks to be plenty of knives though...I would have picked up a BDLE if I was there....they are a very useful knife which I missed out on.

I would be broke in the first 5 minutes.

I've never been to Blade; a quick Internet search indicates that Atlanta is 317 miles from Louisville (effectively, where I live). It would be difficult to make that round-trip and spend time at the show in one day, so between food, lodging, gas, and wear on the car, the trip just isn't worth it to me.

Now Knob Creek is another story; it's only about 30 miles away and has become a no-brainer since discovering Bussekin. I figure that the money saved by not going to Blade is about the price of a moderate chunk of INFI, or multiple blades from the Yard, and the Spring shoot was only a month ago. At Knob Creek, the tables usually stay full; as things are sold, they just pull more stuff out of boxes under the tables to restock. In Spring 2008, they tried a different approach, the crew brought boxes labeled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday; once your day's stuff was sold, nothing new was available until the next day and, while lots of Customs remained, the CG tables were mighty barren after a couple hours on Friday morning. That isn't how it normally works though.

That show was the release of SAR5s (I bought 7 for myself and proxied 3 others). I also bought a rare SJTAC (it's a CG, but has LE handles), a tan yard hook, and two black scrapper 6s with logos; it was also the show where the machine gun shoot was rained out so they sold knives at the motel. Afterward, the crew got bad sick with the flu -- several were hospitalized and the shop was closed for a while.

Blade gets a lot more new offerings and is much more of a social event -- Knob Creek is about buying steel.

One day ill go. Even if i don't have money left over to buy a single blade. Just to have the opportunity to talk and meet fellow members of the yard would be well worth the trip for me =)

The "more offerings" are only Busse - not swamp or yard knives.

It's the famous "trough" you read about on bladeforums - They will pull out a single knife, tell you a bit about it, and give the price, and then people start screaming that they want it. They hand out small knife sleeves, and anyone lucky enough to grab one of the sleeves gets to buy the knife.


Reading about it on the internet, it sounds pretty ridiculous, but being there for it in person it was incredibly entertaining. I had an absolute blast today and spent most of my time with the Busse family. I only wish I wasn't so busy for the rest of the weekend, so I could go back.

I am in on a Regulator if the guard changes. Then again, what are some of the things that can go wrong with the current Res-C guard? Lets hear it.

I don't plan to get into any knife fights, so the guard issue wouldn't be much of an issue to me.

I look forward to hearing how folks feel about them. They look good, but 1/3-inch seems awfully thick to me. I kind of liked the way things were evolving with the skinny/boney releases -- I slice with a knife more than I pry, although as I've noted, I'm no camper.

I'm definitely a fan of skinny knives. The new little Vex blades from the swamp are nice and thin, with a full convex zero edge. I like them quite a lot - they seem like they will make great great slicers.

From one who camps, the thickness is a huge advantage but would be better with a longer blade. Out here in Cali we have some tough wood like mesquite so the edge retention of SR-101 and the strength it is known for would be welcome here!

Those crash axes were gone FAST! I got into the room maybe 5 minutes after the doors opened, and I never even saw them. It wasn't until I came home and saw the pictures online that I knew there were axes.
