really, at that bitrate you want headphones with color and flavor.

my recommendation stands with porta pro and the refurbished ATH-ES7.

i sell music studio gear. i have a bout 10 years before that as a studio rat. pretty much live and breath recording gear.

How can I get better? When I rip my cds to itunes that's how they come out!!

peazy, the phones were perfect. factory refurbished to brand new condition. i doubt you've seen sexier headphones.

amping: you plug your headphones into the amp, which has it's own volume control most of the time, and that is plugged into your source (mp3 player, cd player, computer.)

preferably this is done via the line out instead of the headphone jack of your source, to avoid coloring the signal. from computers, there are USB dac's to put in front of your amp so no crappy sound cards or mobo outs ruin your sound.

lazi do you have any good deals on motif distressors?

i have spent a lot of time with the rp21 headphones and have also gotten opinions from both mix engineers and audiophiles. they really do shine and not in the bad way. if a guy spends $2500 on a tube amp and is happy with a set of $100 headphones then that's just saying a lot to me.
