I should have also said I'm not crazy about the lights that use funky batteries. I want to be able to grab a set of spares at a gas station or camp store, and not have to order on the internet. I guess I could go rechargeable, but it seems like it'd just be easier to do AA or AAA.

what was that high value brand you recommended? rock river arms? Mag. The Rock Rivers are nice, and if you want one I can get you one without the wait. If you are just lookinf for a good shooter that isn't spendy, the Rock Island Armory 1911s are very hard to beat. The RIA Tactical can be bought for around $440 to your door, and it will out shoot most $800 1911s right out of the box. Some of them might have an issue or two during break in, but that is nothing to worry about either because the have the best customer service/warranty dept. on the planet. I HIGHLY recommend the Rock Island Armory 1911s as a "best bang for your buck" 1911.
