Wasn' that you that said you had to do some re-wireing to get it wired up the way you wanted? Yeah my Dad has an old it IS from the 50' welder, where you pull out the lead wires and put them in different holes to vary your levels. It's a big old round heavy sucker, and does not make ANY noise. he had to wire a light to it so he could tell if he remembered to turn it off or not. Yeah, turns out I had a totally deal breaker box in the house. Worked out ok in the end though and the welder purrs along. Mine's an Idealarc 250 ac/dc, the same as this one: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1099464095046660750fciVbASounds like a really neat old one that your father has. Only seen photos of ones like that.
