THAT's why I was thinking about a water purifier along with tablets/bleach. I've seen several dead animals in floodwaters around here a few times and IF that's all you got to drink....

Tony - way to go on the order!

Randy - Katadyn makes several different models of water filters. The Pocket and Combi models are small and portable with a filter life of up to 13,000 gallons depending on water clarity. The Gravidyn is a table-top model that filters more at one time - I have all three types! I also keep a few iodine and bleach type tablets on hand. You HAVE to have water!

For a pre filter for a handpump pantyhose works pretty good. it just filters out the bigger stuff without hurting the water flow much.

I have seen a bag filter that looked interesting. It looks like a sun shower but it filters the water back at camp while you are out goofing of. Don't know how well they worked or if they still sell them but it is an interesting setup.

Ah I've seen the pocket one and THAT is what I would like to have. But man, I'd have to save up a while for one of those! combi models? Not sure if I've seen those or not. Probably have though. Thanks for the info Tom.

On the other hand if you are staying in place 10 cases or so of Sams bottled water will hold you over a few days. If you are lucky you can get the 24 packs on sale for $2.50 or 3 bucks a pop.

M/B. I've seen more than one model of that kind. It uses, I think, two bags that look like hydration bags. Does this sound like what you are talking about?

Yeah, we've got bottled water as well, but It WILL get used up faster than you you would think. And who woulda thunk that in a flood you could die of thirst!
