There were quite a varied selection in scales for such a very limited run knife.

There was:
red G10
Black Micarta
Green Micarta
Tan Micarta
White/Black G10
Tan/Black G10

And those are just the ones I've seen pics of!

I've got a Green Micarta scaled Vex and an 18" Ontario machete coming in the mail to me shortly (probably Tuesday). I'm super pumped to check this little blade out after all the talk about it.

Pat - I think you will like the Vex - I sure do! And I normally don't care much for small knives. The Vex is a nice size, thin and sharp - a nice slicer. Let us know how you like it!

Will do, Tom.

I'll be flying out to Vancouver for a couple weeks on the 17th, and wouldn't mind taking this one with me as my belt knife while in my CadPats! I figure I should be able to use either my Muela Rebeco or Rainwalker MPLE sheath for it.

Tan/black, and white/black.

Pics? I always just thought it was tan/black, and it just looked like white/black..

Enjoy every sandwich.

I can't help you on the weight variations with different materials, but my linen micarta:

Vexillarius = 5.25 ounces; .14” thick; 3.75” blade (from front of choil); 8.25” oal

It is pretty light-weight for micarta.

And I LOVE that subtle two tone linen.

Thought you might want me to dump my pics here on this thread for you :

I don't usually get good quality pics. But, sometimes get "Lucky".

The Vex was a bargain at $99.00. They seem to be selling on the forums for around $120 - $140.

I wouldn't try to mess around too much. I think that is still a good price. Just figure out the scales you want, keep an eye on the trade forums and do the deal.

There were not enough of these made to mess around.

I hope they make more. As I think MANY people will be wanting this knife over the years and prices will likely go up. Buy now!

I WISH I could have afforded a spare. But, funds are too tight right now for me.

Hmmmm.... I just noticed it appears I have had the forums all to myself for the last 3 hours or so.

Feels like an empty vacant home (... err Dog-house) somehow now.

I didn't think that happened around here.

I think I will go to bed now.

I think that's green linen; I got a pair of them. A big part of what makes the Vex lighter than most of the Micarta-handled knives are that the handles are slim -- it doesn't fill my hand like a Res-C Mudder. I think they're OK (I like them better than the day I received them) and will hold onto mine, but I don't know that I'll ever choose the to carry one over either an S5 or a BAD.

KnifeGuy, your large hands have me wondering if that is a smaller handle than usual.
