Smatchet in SR-77 would be cool, especially with a Res-C handle.

A Loveless-style dropped point hunter (preferably hollow ground) with Res-C would also be awesome regardless of which steel you used.

I already made drawings scattered all over the forum of (some of) what I would want. So, I guess I am DQ'd.

But, there are some other potentially very good ideas posted... except that the loose descriptions tend to leave a LOT open to interpretation for the end product without 10 pages of details ....... or a picture being provided.

Good luck everyone.

I look forward to seeing what the teams come up with... and maybe some of these other ideas will filter into production later on.

Asking the customers what they want = "Marketing Genius!

Not wanting customers to provide "accurate" and detailed "pictures" of what they want to help provide clarity .....

I guess it leaves interpretation to Busse and crew. But, I don't think a picture "makes" Busse and crew follow a design to a "T" in the event Jerry or Dan want to make changes their ways for their reasons.

Oh well.....

.

I was kind of confused also when I saw that on BF as well. Then I started thinking that there has to be a good reason for it.

Only things that I can think of are legalities or the "perception" of copying another knifemaker's design. I think the Busses want to make it clearly their own interpretation of an idea, rather than copy of a design.

What if the photo or design is copyrighted by the poster or another knifemaker who the poster "borrowed" it from? Can't possibly know if it is or isn't for so many designs. Even if not a legal issue, Busse can't afford to have someone claiming or bragging that the Busses stole their design. Even if they didn't, it would still be bad mojo. Not worth the hassle.

So, I'm good with the contest as it is. The great news is that they are listening, which should translate into many, MANY great pieces for years to come. How many other companies have such a great rappor with their customers??? Yeah, I'll cut 'em some slack on this. I can't wait to see what comes out of it!!!

I propose a Scrap Yard version of a skeletonized SAR4, but scaled down:
3.25" to 3.5" blade length
7.5" to 8.0" overall length
.125" to .156" blade thickness
1.0" and 1.25" blade width
It would be made out of D2 or SR101 (and possible INFI LE offering at .186" thick).

Oooo, Oooo, The "Scrap Yard K-Nine ( Like the canine / dog tooth (The Killer 9").
A Scrap Yard double edged fighter about 1.4" wide, .33 thick & flat groung on both edges down to the spear point on the 9" blade. SR77 with a Res-C handle of course. Perhaps with a molded guard like the Regulator has.

Love that name!

The Pork Chop ( A butchers dream come true)...

An satin bladed camp cleaver made from 1/4" INFI. Oversize Micarta grips so it stays in your hands when processing the deer or moose you just bagged or splitting the wood for your campfire !
Overall length about 12"..... 5" handle with a 7" squared off blade that's about 5" deep !!!!

A wide double edged blade but slightly more narrow towards the guard. Something like the Proeliator knife (from MercWorx) but made from .33" thick, 2.3" wide SR77 (at its widest point) with an 8.5" blade (sharpened the same on both sides unlike the MW Knife) and a Regulator style Res-C handle.
That would make an AWESOME fighter!

How about a "Big Bad Axx" similar to the Crash Ax or maybe even slightly larger? Pry bar end and spike opposite the ax head. SR-77.
