So...I bought the Colt Anaconda last week and went over to my local gun store on Saturday for a box of ammo and I'll be danged if he didn't have not one but two Winchester model 1894s in the case. Just as we chase knives and have a grail knife, this was one of my grail guns...my Grandpa had one and it disappeared when he died. I just never bought one after that.

The one in the store that caught my eye had a very nice patina and the walnut was well aged. It turns out, the older looking one was from 1945 and the younger one was a 1980s version. The price difference was about $75.00.

I jumped on the 1945 rifle and fellas, it is sweet! Too bad my wife doesn't think it so sweet! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> It's a good thing she loves me and puts up with my addicitions to various forms of steel. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Now, if I could only find a box of shells...but hey, isn't that what got me on the hotseat?

Pictures to follow.

Inside each knife is a new adventure waiting to be had...maybe some blood and probably some suture.

Otherwise Devil, wouldn't life be a bit too boring?

Go back and buy the other 94.

Take it in to the wife, say "Look honey, I got you one too. We can shoot them together!"

Problem solved. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Love the model 94 Winchester. I must have owned half a dozen of them over the years. I used to pick them up in pawn shops after hunting season for a song. The only one I have left is a newer one in 44 Magnum. I thought they would never quit making them. I was wrong. Congrats on finding a good old one. Is it in 30-30? That was the most popular caliber, but they have been made in many calibers. I even had one in .375 WIN.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Sounds like a sweet rifle.

I love lever action rifles.

Private Klink, thanks!

PBL, the wife is a shooter and that's a thought. She's got several pistols and loves to shoot her Grandpa's Luger...which drives me nuts. Maybe she'll get a fancy Springfield XDM from Santa...it would beat a set of cookware!

HornDog, you are so right, I had no idea they had stopped making them until about a year ago. My brother and I were talking and he had just bought one for about 200.oo. I'm like you, I can remember when you could get them for a lot less than that. Mine is a 30-30 but ammo is virtually non-existant down here. I went to 4 stores (well stocked gunstores I might add) and found one box. THe store where I picked mine up has several of the Henry models in .44 and a couple of Marlins...who ever thought a lever action would be such a rarity?

Banana Clip, thanks Brother!

Congrats on a great rifle. I have been wanting an old Win. 94 with the 30 WCF caliber marking for a long time. Problem is that people around here think they are gold--even when rode hard and put up wet.

Cant go wrong with a lever gun.(marlin 1895 ss guide gun + ruger 9622 assault lever gun)...see my previous post.And though I love my ruger wheels the colts are in a class by themselfs, congrats on the anaconda score. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I feel your pain. I My wife sees no difference between any rifle, pistol or knife. She told me that all of my knives look the same to her. Well quite a few of them are scrapyards but.....

Sounds like a keeper though Devil. Normal people don't quite understand our love of steel and sharp things.

I hear you Brother. I don't know about you but it would suit me to have one of everything the Yard has to offer. I have three but each time one has been delivered, I sit in the corner with my back to the world and say,

"It came to me, my own, my love... my... preciousssss." <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
