Great reviews guys. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I love the Regulator but must say I have been GRAVELY dissappointed with edges on most of my Bussekin steel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. I am not knocking anything- it is just toatly inconsistent and makes one wonder <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> ? My Regs were razor sharp- where other knies have been downright dull <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" />.As for the KZ- I think it maight look better mounted on a wall rather than performance it appears <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. On the other hand-how about a BIG kudos to Dan on the Regulators <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />!!!

As Khukris go, the Killa Zilla can hold its own with my HIs, but none of mine are as big and heavy as the KZ. I question even the need for the super thick HI Khuks. I know, I have angered both HI and Busse lovers by now, but those thinner LTC Khuks from Cold Steel chop better. My Condor golok can kick some khukri butt. It's a chopping machine. I just don't think I need any 38 ounce half inch thick knives, as impressive as they are. I have an axe.

The Regulator is an awesome knife and mine came extremely sharp. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

The LTC also beats my HI khukris as was demonstrated by my old chopoff. The FBM did as well. I think the most desirable HI users are villagers in the 17", 25oz range, but their products offer more to the khukri freaks than just chopping performance. The same thing goes for INFI hogs. It's something about mystique, be it magic, chemistry, beauty, or craftsmanship.

The LTC ignores everything for the sake of pure chopping excellence. Think I'll go play with mine, now.

Great review. Thanks for the honest comparison. I just picked up a cold steel kukri but have yet to use it yet. It came with a silly uneven and coaded edge. But a little time on my belt sander and its convexed and ready for action. I hose to post a chop off vid on youtube when i get the chance.

I'm curious about chopping technique. Are you chopping with just the arm or do you snap your wrist at the end of the swing?

i was wondering about that too. i used to think khukris were overrated before i learned how to use them. the LTC works fine using straight knife technique.

The zilla's handle isn't well suited to a proper kukri swing. The LTC has more of a flare, so you can give it a good wrist snap, but as mag said it's not needed.

For the sake of fair comparisons, I used the same basic swing and grip on all the different knives. The LTC would chop even better if I used a kukri-style grip utilizing the butt. Even swung like a normal knife, it still bested everything else on the list.

Too bad SYKCO can't make a LTC type Khukri. It would be affordable and high performance. Either SR77 or SR101 would be just fine. For those that want the most impressive Busse, get the KZ. For those that want performance for an affordable price, get the SYKCO. It would be great.
