Nice. I am going to wait until my Reg and Dereg gets here to form an opinion against the TT Regulator. So far, from what I see my assumptions are going to be confirmed. I love what you did with the satin job too.

Got home from work today and waiting for me was my Deregulator, so of course I had to do a quick side by side compare with my satin TT regulator
Fist impression if the Dereg looks meaner and more aggressive than the TT, I gave both silimar edges (sharp but not hair popping) heres a few pics

ON TO THE CHOP OFF
First the Dereg after 10 chops to this 2 x 10

The TT after 10 chops

The Dereg after 10 more

The TT after 10 more

All in all they both seemed to perform fairly close with an edge going to the Dereg for the extra weight
Now, choking up on the blade is where the Dereg really shines, I can get way up on it it need be without the top guard

The TT while not bad, doesn't let you get in as tight

Both stabbed well and about the same, hand was very secure on the knife

This picture is very telling of the feel of both knives, I placed them both on the choils and 5 times out of 5 they ended up like this

I love the removed top guard on the Dereg, and while it has lost a bit of the excellent balance that the TT has, The choil and thumb ramp make up for it.

Thanks for taking the time to test and sharing your results

Dan

you made the top guard on the dereg look good. was it hard to sand it down and get it that even?

It came like that, I didn't even have to touch it.

Nice comparison - thanks. My Dereg "sans top guard" was perfect just as it came from Scrapyard too.
