The struggle I refer to is that some folks don't make enough money to easily buy these knives and can just swing Dan's prices...then Screwheads buy them up and jack up the price because they think they can make money off of it!

Yeah I thought I'd check out the DM as well. I was pretty certain that it was something I'd turn around and sell because frankly 5 inch knives don't fit into my personal requirements of knives. But it's grown on me. So i'll send Leatherface some money tomorrow for a sheath.

Hi guys,
Here's my 2 cents.
For reference, I'm an active duty soldier in an intensive training schedule while on a short notice deployment alert. I bought a second hand Street Scrapper 4 for my 1st line some time ago from a great gentleman from one of the knife forums and I was absolutely thoroughly impressed with the knife. But...
Sad story part 1.
So I figured since I really need a good solid E&E edged tool for my convoy kit for the dark continent the Dogfather might fit that role perfectly.
I was maybe a good few days, maybe even a week late from the dogfather release and sent an email to Scrapyard enquiring of the availability. Got a answer a week later, while I was in a ftx that no problem, they have one for me and will send it when I confirm my details. So after the ftx ended my reply to that email was like a week from that. And my reply never got a return. Me sad.
Sad story Part 2.
So, then I heard of a new really hard duty combat blade being released so I figured, I have got to secure this one! It would fit the bill spot on in my 2nd line.
I found out the preliminary release schedule and compared it to my training schedule and figured that no way was I so unlucky that I could not get myself a Dumpster Mutt because my ftx during the estimated release time was only a few days overlapping. So my ftx started and the sale had not got started yet. Slightly nervous, after a week I came back and saw that the release had been like two days ago. Went to the company shop and...them Mutts was gone! Me one sad puppy...
I was hit with some big bills this month so I can't even think of getting a second hand Scrapyard anytime soon.
Also, second hand option is not the one I go very easily because of the fact that like some here, I don't like the idea of people purchasing several blades for profit. Also the release system of relatively short supply released in one go seems not to be working for guys on the constant go too well. Too bad because Scrapyard is at the top of my book as far as blades go. They are great combat and hard duty tools I'm sure.
I'm just telling this to give you guys a little perspective, my perspective. Heck, there may be a preorder procedure that I could have used but atleast I am not aware of one.
Thanks for hearing me out. Take care.

Welcome to the Yard Dan! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I hope you’re able to find a “bone” at a good price. If not, more DFs and S6s are on the way, so you’ll have another chance at them in the short future.

I understand, Gravelface. But if the people who can just swing Dan's prices are at the right place at the right time, they should be able to get theirs. If they can't, then I'm entirely on your side.
To be perfectly honest with you, I'm not a big fan of one-offs from The Yard (e.g., SS4-INFI, Dumpster Mutt). I understand why Dan does them. But I think they belong more properly in the domain of Busse Combat and, to a slightly lesser degree, Swamp Rat. I'd be much happier if Dan stuck to creating high-volume, low-cost production knives that he periodically re-released (e.g., DF, S6). If he did that, discussions like this one probably wouldn't be necessary. I understand what you are saying.....hell, I am guilty of it when Game Wardens first came out...then I saw the struggle that some folks have getting some blades and it bothered to see the people I talked too so much cut short by greedy people who are in the right place with the right amount of money. I began to hold a few till folks could save their money and even gave some away for less than cost. And I tell you that felt much better than making $30-40 off a knife that someone could have got at cost, but I was greedy and eager and now I try to give away more. I understand getting an extra to resell ...later, but immediatly flipping it for 2x the cost....that is dirty!

Warriors and feather merchants have different norms, GF. I do not personally profiteer from resales, but we are living in a free market economy. I cannot condemn those who do. Those veterans who are able will take care of our active duty brothers who may be unable to order in a timely manner due to deployment or training. The dogs in the yard have demonstrated their willingness to help those who may have other obligations at the time of a release. That is the best we can do.

How about this hypothetical. I got 50,000 dollars laying around doing nothing, I am a keen collector investor willing to take a risk and double my money possibly. I wait for the release announcement, Place my order for 1000 knives. There is no limit right. Only 1200 were made, so I corner the market on these highly sought after blades. If you were one of the 200 who also got to order your good, or someone else scarfed up the other 200. So now 2 people control the market for these knives. So now if you want one instead of paying $69.95 for one you will have to go through me or my partner and pay $149.99. I am not against a free market and someone making some money. But I think there does need to be some kind of limit on the number any one individual can buy at one time.
