Not sure if I missed the post or discussion..... so if I did, I appologize.
What next might we expect on the horizion from Big Dawg Dan ?
I guess I should be happy that I just got a nice little Mutt as a quick fix, but as you all know, this addiction is not easily cured.
Just as an aside : My Mutt was the sharpest knife I have received to date from the yard or from SRKW. That thing was... SHARP !!

Infi vs. SR-77. Does it really matter. Each steel has some advantages over the other. And each steel has some disadvantages over the other. Infi's a great all arounder, but SR-77 might be better at impacts, SR-101 might have better edge retention. In the end buy the steel that suits your needs.
Truth be told I doubt very seriously that many of us will ever punish our knives enough to need that extra 5% margin. There's a lot that goes into a knife that affects its performance. Steel is one such aspect, but so is design. The simple reality is that Dan and Jerry's knives are so overengineered and overbuilt that I seriously doubt it makes a difference one way or the other what metal they're made from.
I like Jerry's designs. He makes some spectacular blades. However, as much as I admire Busse blades I have to admit that I don't own a single one. Why? Cause I'm a user! I simply have a hard time justifying buying a several hundred dollar knife and using it when I can get something pretty close for a whole lot cheaper from the Scrapyard.
Peace Jerry

Peace Jerry Regardless of a persons preference for steel and design which are both are very important. I believe it comes down to the most important factor, the performance to price ratio. A refined fit and finish are really a secondary concerns to a guy like me who just wants to use a knife for everything possible and not have it fail. Jerry and I both hold performance as the critical factor in a knife's function. This factor is deeply seated with both of us. This is due to some bad experiences when we were kids. We would save our money for a long time and buy what we thought were good knives only to have them break or have the blade chip away. When we tried to claim on the warranty there was always a loop hole that protected the store/manufacturer and we were out the money, but more importantly the knife. This is why our warranties are iron clad for the customer. Continue to look to ScrapYard to deliver on the performance to price ratio. Dan

I suppose it's a matter of perspective, Jerry. From a user's perspective, it would be difficult to argue your logic. From a collector's perspective, it would be easy to argue your logic. From an investor's perspective, it really doesn't matter. ALL Busse family knives appreciate over time. Very good points Dan

A lot of companies are slippery, and then claim things like “Oh, well, that’s considered abuse, that’s not covered.” I’m so glad you guys not only do outrageous things with your knives, but encourage us to do the same.

I love Sr77! It is the perfect steel for a big hard use knife. If I wanted a knife for carving hardwood it would be something different like D2 which is exactly what Swamprat used on some of their smaller knives where edge retention is more important than strength.

I agree with Unsub on steel and with whoever said 'shaker'- HELL YEAH!!!
For my money a D2 or ATS34 shaker would be great.. As Dan couldn't find any ATS34, let's hope he's got some old swamp D2 stashed away! That would be a great knife and probably fits the yard 'bang for the buck' ethos pretty well.
