Hey JJ, being in the service, I am guessing they serve you SOS for breakfast/midnight chow. What do you think of it? That was my favorite meal, with ham cheese and mushroom omlett, The sos over toast and some sausage or bacon on the side! YUM YUM... Still miss that.

JJ, I was just reading back some posts and found where I posted something along the lines of "that's stupid'! IF you thought that was directed at you/your posts it wasn't I was responding to PB52's post about a 21 year old who only went to school on the last day AND GRADUATED! You would have to search for the post he made and click on the link to read it. Our school system(S) are just like the government under Body Odor, getting out of control!

As for the food, I am in a little different role than most service members. I work for Stars and Stripes. This forces me to wear civilian attire and live pretty much like a civilian; when not deployed. Since we are the only Defense Media Activity that practices the First Amendment (we can't be told by a general "you can't print that") I have to introduce myself by name and not rank. My point is, I eat what I cook at home and seldom eat at the chow hall. When I go to the field I usually just eat at whatever FOB is closest and I get reminded what it's like to be fed SOS on a daily basis. I usually just stick to the MREs which I find rather good, relatively at least. But, you'd be surprised at some of the Army chow halls down range. [censored] the entire bases for that reason. "I went to war and a garrison broke out," is a common saying now days.

As for the serious, fun and in between, I am a Jarhead through and through and have been known to crack a mom joke within minutes of taking incoming fire. "Your mom's so fat her fart cracked the humvee windshield," after a motar strike always lightens the situation a little. Anything to take the edge off of the fear.

I have been addicted to knives for quite some time. Weapons in general for that matter. I guess it's one of the reasons I joined the Corps. Well that, and Full Metal Jacket. I wanted to be Joker.

My biggest problem with knives is that any knife tough enough to meet my standards is usually too expensive and I don't want to use it properly for fear of destroying my investment. Hurting a $100 -/+ knife wouldn't get me down, so I have hopes about these. Especially with the guarantee they have.

haha, when you started talking about your job, the FIRST thing that came to mind was that move and Joker!

Talk about a being a small world, I work in the town where the "Stars and Strips" originated! One of these days I will try and get a pictue of a sign just outside of town for ya.

Oh and I am sure you know that there is a Stars and Stripes museum and Library now. It's located about 3/4 mile from where I am setting right now!

Wow! I just Googled it. Bloomsfield huh? You gotta get me a pic if you don't mind. When I finally got the position, my grandfather sent me an awesome book with the 200 most important S&S front pages from WWII. It is an awesome recount of the war. I am the first Marine to be stationed at S&S Europe since WWII, and when I got here my editor gave me this.
