I KNEW Savage had something like that. So I was only 11 model numbers off, oh yeah and the manufacturer as well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

My .30-06 is an old Remmy 700 ADL, blueing worn off, stock scratched up,etc. I got this one in a pawn shop for $200, and it shoots like a dream. I wouldn't say I wouldn't take a new rifle if someone gave me one, but I like older guns better.

My 600 is the plain jane mohawk version.
No barrel rib or monte carlo stock.
The only thing I would change on my rifle is to have a detachable magazine instead of the internal one

Bill, yeah that's the one I have as well. I really like it, light, short and shoots well. Now it won't shoot like my REm 700 VLS (10 pound gun naked), but then it does not have a 26 inch bull barrel either.
I don't have a target rifle, but I am confident that all my rifles can shout minute of deer for accuracy.
I was fortunate enough to know a retired Canadian sniper, and got to do some shooting with him.
He moved out of province and I haven't heard from him in a while, think I will shoot him an e-mail tomorrow

That's me right there Bill. May not put 4 rounds through the same hole, but I'll bet I can put the first one where it counts.

The only reason I have to buy a new rifle is if I want one.
A little over a year when the kids are out of school, then some more toys will be bought.
Luckily I can usually tell the difference between needs and wants

My next long gun, if I can find the right one, will be an auto-loader shotgun. I like the Franchi, may try for one of those. Just for skeet shooting, so it can be pretty. No quail left around here to hunt.

Those are fine looking shotguns

Todd, if you're going to get a clay gun, go for the gusto and get an O/U. Man they handle nice.

Never shot a BP gun, been around folks shooting them some, but never done it myself.

I'm like you Bill, got all the guns I "need". But boy there are some out there I sure would like to have!

I don't have a single firearm that looks pretty.
One day maybe, as I do see the beauty in a fancy firearm, but my next one will probably be an ugly stainless steel rifle with a synthetic stock.
Right now all my rifles and shotties carry wood
