Hmmm…ya know, all this talk about alcohol and dead guys reminded me of a story I read. I found this on Reuter’s oddly enough news page a while back, so it’s true, not some internet urban legend.

Hungary workers get shock at bottom of rum barrel
Thu May 4, 2006 9:49 AM ET

Hungarian builders who drank their way to the bottom of a huge barrel of rum while renovating a house got a nasty surprise when a pickled corpse tumbled out of the empty barrel, a police magazine website reported.

According to online magazine www.zsaru.hu, workers in Szeged in the south of Hungary tried to move the barrel after they had drained it, only to find it was surprisingly heavy and were shocked when the body of a naked man fell out.

The website said that the body of the man had been shipped back from Jamaica 20 years ago by his wife in the barrel of rum in order to avoid the cost and paperwork of an official return.

According to the website, workers said the rum in the 300-liter barrel had a "special taste" so they even decanted a few bottles of the liquor to take home.

The wife has since died and the man was buried in a proper grave.

If you're ever in Oregon GF head to the Rogue Ale Brewery. They also have a sampler that will light you up. Bring a designated driver <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My avatar is for Rogue Ale Brewery "Dead Guy Ale". Very unique flavor almost smoky flavor, can actually find it in the grocery store once in awhile.

I love Dead Guy! That Save a Center stocks it! All sorts of Flavors.

Abita has a beer called Andygator and it will LIGHT YOU UP....and Abita is about 35 miles east of me....so we visit the Local Brewery occasionally!

Admiral Nelson was pickled in Rum after saving the UK and being shot by a sniper.
I can't imagine they threw that rum away either. It should not be unhealthy as what germs could live in a barrel of rum?

I like Gravelface's idea about something more Norse or european for a sword from the yard. Japanese stuff is getting played out. I have had my cheness getting worked on for 6 months now and hopefully it will be done soon.

I am really into primitive blades like the ones in Bors photo. If you get a chance to check out Neil Mckee on knifeart he does amazing work for dirt cheap.
While your there my very favorite custom maker(not cheap) Ander Hogstrom is worth a look. I plan on being buried with one of his pieces.

For some reason I thought you were farther south than that. I hang around in NO and Washington Parish.
