I've heard a few folks talking about keeping blades(usually bigger types)in their cars/trucks,so I thought I'd throw out a word of caution/advice;if you(like me)like to keep a survival style blade in the truck, consider doing as I did- I found an old ammo type crate that fit under the seat and bolted it the the floor pan, then had a strong clasp welded to the lid so I could padlock it.That protected me in two ways:if the police ever questioned my having it in the vehicle,at least it was secured in manner that showed I was'nt just wheelin' around with a blade under the seat ...and,it made it really tough for someone to steal!

I live in a country that traditionally has had no right to bear arms and has a government that concentrates on objects (guns and knives) rather than criminals using them... Pity.

Good idea with the crate and padlock however if your car crashes and you need that knife right away, having it locked like that will only delay your chance of survival.

Thats what your EDC is for! Yep, a smallish fixed blade or folder can cut a seatbelt but it cannot pry open door or cut through the roof. There was an interesting artice few years back where one BF forumite and his buddy cut their way out through the roof of a smashed SUV. I'll post the artice sometime if I find it.
