what do you guys think?
before answering go out and beat the crap out of a piece of real hard wood for 5 minutes without gloves just for the fun of it and then post your answer.) i had the chance to try out cgeyers scrapizashi a few weekends ago on a hickory log. it was fun to chop on the log as hard as i could but each time i hit the log the spine and handle wrapping along the spine dug into my hand and i really felt each blow.
chuck said he would like to have a neoprene handle put on which will no doubt make it easier on the hands and more fun to play with.
i was thinking of paracord wrap as another option but the neoprene sounds like a better idea and would offer better grip even when wet.
i'm anxious to see what it looks like after i get done putting some neoprene on and then giving it a try on some more hickory. i'll do a wip of how i put neoprene on and how i shape and finish the neoprene.

i have a knife to put neoprene on possibly tomorrow but its not the scrapizashi. it will be done the same way so if anyone wants to see the pictures i'll email them to you.
when i get around to contouring the handle on the belt sander i'll make a few short vids that can be emailed.
when i do the scrapizashi i'll make several longer vids but i'll have to find someone to host them.

richardj, are you talking about the plastidip, or real wetsuit neoprene?

Res-c handles would be ideal, IMHO, as in an elongated regulator handle

i have some 1/2" thick neoprene that a friend brought me. i have different widths but it is all 1/2" thick. look at my website and you'll see some knives that have neoprene handles.

Res-c handles would be ideal, IMHO, as in an elongated regulator handle We asked Dan about that at Blade last year, he said they tried Res-c, but on a handle that long with a blade that long there was to much twisting, they really wanted to use res-c, but they couldn't

i'm anxious to get some neoprene on it and give it a try. later today i'm going to take some shots of how i put the neoprene on a knife i'm making and if it holds off on raining i'll go outside and see if i can make a vid showing how to shape the neoprene down. if i have any problems with the vid i'll take some pictures.
