I've had two of the original Ranger Busse blank models, both were RD7's. I believe I read Justin did the heat treatment but I cant be sure but either way they are great and strong knives I used them alot.
Nice score!!
Here a pic of the two Busse Blanks I had b4 they were used. Reminds me of the old SH's!

Wow Pitman and Sumo. Y'all are making me feel good <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

No pics yet. Next week...

I'm only messin buddy. I would say that 5160 would fall smack between S7(SR77)and 51200( SR101). It would likely chip out quicker than SR77 but not as easily as SR101 and it would hold an edge longer than SR77 but not as well as SR101.

5160 is a great all round steel especially on larger knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

D/T -- Justin makes a good knife; I sure wouldn't worry about it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

DT, sounds like you got a winner. I'm looking forward to seeing the new addition.
