WHEW!! I'm glad you guys posted your feelings. I was fully prepared to be tarred & feathered for posting any dislike of the vaunted RMD

The 511 appears to have more of a convexed bevel than that of a flat sabre grind found on the S5 or RMD. May just be my eyes playing tricks...but it sure feels like it to me. I don't think it's a flat sabre grind.

I'm just busting your chops Flux. Do I even understand why photos post bigger? Negative. Was just cracking me up reading the sentences as they kept going..... right!

Yeah Ish, the RMD is generally king of the heap in bussekin 5" group, no? Still don't know a better bushcraft knife in bussekin than the War Dog though!

Might have to ditch a folder and bag a 511 and see for myself!

Yeah, it seems the RMD has quite the fan base. That's why I'm grateful for such diversity in knives production...nothing can fit everyone.

I am looking forward to receiving my Camo 511. I have high hopes for it, IF the choil is truly more usable. I'm holding off using the store-bought 511 until I get the Camo 511 in hand....so that I can make a selection at that point.

I really like it! It just begs to be used. Keep in mind I have medium sized hands. The handle would be tight for larger hands.

I wear a size Medium Mechanix Wear Gloves...so I think I'm in the same boat as you re: size. The smaller "dumpster mutt" style handles have always been good to me. I like the texture of them as well.

I'm heading out to dinner but I'll post pics of the RMD and 511 when I get back, I'll also throw in the WD.

I really like the handle of the old howling rat/bandicoot so no issue here!

I wasn't sure what I was going to hear when I opened this thread.

I'm sorry that this dog bit you. Most dogs need training so they don't bite. I would take that Dog out and beat it until obeys

Yes sir! I figured people would think I thought the 5-11 was awful. Classic reversal of expectations.

BTW, I am on this thread on my computer for the first time, and WOW you dogs were right. That picture is huge. I will fix that right up.

Excellent comparison shots!!!

Thanks for those!!

As far as blade shape, I think I prefer the look of the 5-11. Comfort, I can't comment on, but I love both Res-C and Canvas Micarta, so that'd be a tough pick. I guess the RMD would have the edge over the 5-11 in comfort because of the choil.

As for usability, the 5-11 has more blade length, which is a plus in my book.

Has anyone else mic'ed their 5-11s? I thought they were supposed to be 3/16ths, but my micrometer shows .200". I'm certainly not complaining!!
