I've never messed with a red dot scope, but I've toyed with the idea a little for one of my .22's. Just as a plinker, though. I'm not sure about hunting with one. I think they are best suited for shotguns where you have to snap fire. I have one on my 870 and it is a blast to hunt with.

Cabela's is nice to get your hands on things but it is a nice overall trip, about 40 minute drive. Their prices used to be really high but have come down some.

My mother told me if didn't have anything nice to say then don't say anything but that never stopped me before.

The local gun dealer I have been patronizing for range time seems to be a good guy. I asked if he had any holsters to fit my Ruger. He showed me a leather one I saw the day before at another gun store in town. I told him the other place had it for $10 less, he said "OK, then how about if I take $15 off the price."
I bought it.

I have them on my ARs but I just have them for SD and plinking, I'm not a pro, I just like them.

I'm no pro either, but I have fired a weapon in anger before and wish i had the scope I had on my M4 at the time. The Trijicon ACOG 4x32 was such a beautiful scope.

Doug also lets military folk use his range for free. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I like Doug.

One of our local ranges lets LEO shoot for free, and I love going there to shoot. They even let us lowly dispatchers shoot for free too.
