Is Elmax steel good in a 3/16" thick, 8" blade? And what's the next release?

Is Elmax steel good in a 3/16" thick, 8" blade? And what's the next release? Elmax is a great steel for a slicer. An 8" blade has been talked about. The next release, and most likely going to show up on the ganza, will be the knife we had at the blade show but with a 1 inch longer blade along with a 3 inch blade with a wider blade...very cool

Is Elmax a proprietary steel name like SR101 or SR77? I trust you judgement but I'm just wondering. I didn't know other companies could use it...
