I have the coarse and the fine Dmt. Might take a bit longer that the X-coarse bit it will work.

The coarse/fine (blue/red) can handle most tasks. As mentioned in one of the earlier posts the extra coarse (black) works better for chips and reprofiling. That is what I use at home then on to the blue-tan then a loaded strop. When I'm out I use the diafolds blue/red and green/tan. You can get a mini hone in extra coarse as a "just in case" and it doesn't take up much space.

Really nice kit there Hooker! I also carry that same EZE Lap credit card set, along with with some very fine emery cloth/sandpaper inside. Very compact and pretty much takes care of everything what I need to keep my knives usable in the field.

I like the Lansky Dogbone. It's all I need.

I carry a lansky pocket carbide/ceramic sharpener, ezelap diamond oval rod and 3000 grit paper. All of these are very light and do a good job at maintaining the edge.

Diamond hones are the only way to to, that's for sure.
