That sounds like a pretty good idea. Never heard of doing chickens that way before, but it makes sense. You could also use Guineas, but I don't know what they taste like. You see a lot of folks around here with Guineas running loose. That has to be quite the sight! They just kind of flock around like chickens and tend to stay fairly close to where you start out feeding them and you just keep feeding them enough to keep them around. The rest of the time they just free range feed. There was a bunch of them out in the street out where my parents lived, ( just had to look them up) we thought they where turkeys. Now I know, learn something everyday

Around here that's not much of a problem being rural/country. Plenty of space for them to scratch around without getting on the roadways. Actually we see more hawks and owls dead along the road than them.

I don't know how many different varieties there are of them but the ones folks around here have are all sort of black with white spots.

I used to have chickens growing up. We'd buy a couple every spring and take them out to a friends farm when they got big. I guess he ate them cause they were never there the next year.
