The Ratweiler is a great camp knife and chopper, but the longer blade of the 911 has the advantage in chopping. I have used them both, but never had them at the same time to compare. Which would you prefer if you could only have one? Neither. I prefer the M9LE to those. But now that I have the 1311, that is my favorite yard/camp knife. I'll probably sell my 911.

the M9 looks like a great knife. I'm a big fan of the RMD handle, super comfortable grip.

I have not had a Ratweiller yet, but if I have the funds I will. I have owned several big choppers--DF, DFLE, M9LE, 911, SOD, SODLE, B11, CGFBM, 1311.....thus far the 1311 is my favorite and it will have a place on my pack. I really want two of the Ratweillers--one for use, one to mod and put some stag handles on it.

I used to say I would sell a kidney, but now that mine is no good I would sale some other steel. Either way it is your decision but I KNOW there is a few Anniversary blades I want.

After rereading your post you say you are looking to add a chopper and so based on that alone 911 for sure. It will do all camp chores also. If you would of said you want to add a new camp knife I'd say Ratweiler. But the 911 will kick its but at chopping.

Get a Chopweiler. Don't look back. I've owned both. I still own the Chopweiler. That, my Dogfather, and my 13-11 (and a Ranger custom 10") are the only big knives I'm keeping, until the Chop Mastiff becomes a reality and the CG Battle Mistress is rereleased. If you can swing it, get a BWM. I needed to sell mine. That's one I wish I still had. No regrets though. The last one I'm selling off is my M9LE. Sad to part with it, but I don't think it can do anything that the Choppy and the DF can't. Right now it's just holding a sentimental place in my safe <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

i think the RW will be my first purchase, provided it's cost isn't too high. i'm not much for the concept of collecting. i don't have more blades than i can use. i try to justify a knife's place on my shelf by whatever role it serves and then kid myself that the half inch difference in blade size constitutes a totally different knife! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
