Ok folks,

I got one of those Petzl Tikka's for a Christmas present, and have been thinking
of using those Eneloops rechargables in it, but I don't know anything abut them
and how they differ from regular rechargables.

Anybody know anything about them? Personal experience with using them?

I picked up some of the new low self discharge NIMH ( Duracell) for my cameras. (wife) I currently use lithium in my headlamps that are on " emergency" status on the shelf as they do not seem to lose the charge. If all goes well I will be going to the new lsd for these to. ( see duracell website) . I will make one suggestion though. I have many headlamps and the important thing is to learn to change the batteries in the dark, I actually practice this as it can be a bit tedious. I am sure others here have great info- but that my 2 cents.

Ahhh yes, very good point!

On a sort of different post than my two previous ones, I told the family that I
wanted survival/camping types of things for Christmas this year, hoping to get
some pretty cool things.
It worked!
I got the Petzl Tikka headlamp from the middle brother (I'm the oldest of 3),
a real cool firesteel with a bone handle from my wifes daughter, and a general
survival emergency pack from my youngest brother and his family.

My sis-in-law thought it would be a great joke to throw in a 3 pack of road flares... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The joke was on her, as I proceeded to give everyone a mini-lecture on the use of
road flares to make an emergency fire... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

That's what happens when you give a guy a little knowledge...it goes to his head

My mother-in-law and father-in-law live east of Toronto in Ontario. Last
couple of days, they had gale force winds there, knocked the power out.
Was something like 230,000 homes without power. Today, they still had
like 68,000 homes without power.
Not too cool. Good thing it's still pretty warm there. Wouldn't have been
much fun if it had been a really cold winter back there.
