woohoo! you already finished the move, dan?

on a related note, to the air bubbles, not the moving, this is why I quench all my blades in mylanta when forging.

I quench all my blades in the tears of freshly squozen unicorns.

No more air bubbles. Less than 1%. I knew Dan would address this. The only reason anybody buys a Dan Busse Scrap Yard knife is the extreme toughness of his steel. We can order prettier knives for less any day of the week. I am glad the problem has been corrected. I have been in the 99% of customers that got good steel. But if my "safe queen" extra DFLE should have a problem, I know Dan and Patti will make it right. I already beat the heck out of my DF and user DFLE, and they have been tough as jack hammer bits. Glad to see they are already at the new address. I'm looking forward to the increased prodution and some new stuff from SYKCO.

Just because Scrap Yard Knives has established a new business address in Wauseon doesn't necessarily mean that Dan and his family have arrived there yet. But it would be nice if that were true.

I didn't mean that the family had already relocated. I think it does show some planning to ensure continuity of the operation, though.

Vic, it sure does. they are up and running, at least enough to take returns. that is a good awnser if you ask me. they now cut the stell themselves.

bors, good point. I always keep some kind of rods with me.

northern1: You got struck by lightning twice. I would be frustrated also. Looks like Dan is taking care of it, so thats good.

About the issue of edge retention. I always carry a folding DMT stone with me in the field. I'm not one that worries about edge retention on a work knife. As long as the steel is easy to sharpen and takes a quick edge on my DMT then I'm good to go.

unless it is sr77 and then its like "i cant hang in edge retention but i can smash anything as far as impact toughness goes!"

When people either post pics or list the contents of there field kits I’m still surprised at how don’t include a some type of stone and steel. In this world of high tech steels I guess people don’t expect to have to sharpen there knives.

Sadly, I personally think this is because more and more people do not know how to sharpen their own knives. I think this is why there is the consumer driven push for these "super steels" to get super long edge retention. People do not consider that like everything in life, there are trade-offs. With that edge retention comes other properties that I personally do not like in a knife. Consumer misunderstanding driving the need for a new product......god don't get me started

I see many, many threads with comments like "I will send it back after hunting season for sharpening...." and on and on. You get my point.

Use the heck out of it, and learn to take care of it. That should be my new motto
