Unlike saturated fats, olive oil will go rancid over time is likely why.

Unlike saturated fats, olive oil will go rancid over time is likely why. Yep, use mineral oil. Use it on your cutting board also <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Nice review Arch! I'm looking forward to my tan handled RS....and a sheath.

Some nice sheaths over on the SwampRat section of BF. Armorall Leather will be having some at the company store soon. Nice looking sheaths too if you like leather.
I'd rather have leather than kydex myself, so I'm going with one of those when they get posted.

Thanks Arch, I love many variations of mexican food. Gonna give it a try.

The soup looks good.
I'm going to have to make it sometime.

Thank You for the pics. The soup looks great <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Mineral oil is best, from what I have read. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Arch, that looks like an awesome pot of food. Now me, I like spicey, but the ulcer doesn't so I would have to go with the unleaded fuel version.
I will be doing the same mod to my RS as soon as I get some good sandpaper. Been meaning to to it for a while now.
Thanks for the review.

Thanks everyone. This batch turned out well, but it is HOT <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />.
The Olive Oil was advised against as adamlau said, because it will go rancid. I googled "food grade mineral oil" and read a lot of conflicting information. I'm not sure what to do at this point - I may just leave the blade "nekkid" and check it daily.

Ish - you're going to love your RS. Both of mine have tan handles (one black blade and one sage blade...which will be safe queened). I like the RS enough that I'm considering adding a third.
Al - Out of the 15+/- sheaths I have of yours, this one is my favorite. The seaming and fit are perfect <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Jeff - you DEFINITELY want the unleaded version if you have an ulcer! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
