I find it odd that there is no official response to such an important and significant action as re-releasing the war dog. I understand it's a holiday weekend, but I would guess it would require official permission to engage in a reopening sales of the war dog

Exciting, yes....but I don't see how it's important / significant. I wouldn't make such a big deal out of this, it's a really good thing folks.

There are only two things that can really happen here. 1) It's not real, and they have to do some damage control and notify everyone that they won't be getting a new War Dog (btw, I do not think this is the case), and 2) People receive new War Dogs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

The only scenario that would cause issues with customers, might be #1 above...and knowing how well the Yard has treated me in the past, I know they would make it "right". Customer service has always been top notch.

I have a hunch that it is not a coincidence that more are being released as the Boss Jacks have started shipping again. It would make sense that the production of the BJs would leave some scraps for Dan to steal and make some more War Dogs from.

Just a thought.

I was actually thinking of selling my WD because of my inability to sharpen a convex zero edge. Perhaps this is a sign that I should keep it.

I would really love this knife if it was a mudder.

Looks like I'm finally nosing into the yard. Couldn't resist a WD at the factory price. Was hoping for a 3-5" under $100 but the WD has such great reviews...

So, sharpening a convex zero edge; sounds like I should rouge up my barber's strop and hold it loose while stroping. Don't think I'll want to touch it with my eversharp wheels. Has anybody got the best method for be sharpest edge? How do you work up a wire edge without losing the roll?

Really looking forward to my first Scrapyard knife.

Saw, WELCOME TO TO THE YARD! You're gonna like it here. MANY MANY good nice folks around. There are some sharpening threads on here both in the Knives Forum and Outdoors and Fieldcraft sections. Just look around for them and you'll find your answer in there somewhere.

What about those who invested their money in War Dogs?
supply and demand. Increase the supply, and the price goes down. Assuming this 2nd release is legit, my investment has now lost some value due to this 2nd release. Its simple supply/demand economics.
It will make me think twice before investing in bussekin knives again. Just saying.

Nothing is a sure thing, you take a risk investing in most anything. Like the stock market, sometimes it is up sometimes it is down.

Dogs:

The last War Dog was sold early this morning.

Congrats to all the Dogs that got in on this opportunity.

The War Dog is soon to be a classic....so take those knives out and use the tar out of them. You know you want to <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Now back to the Blade Show effort

.....There is a limited number so when they are gone they are gone. .....
Expect this to go up on the site today or worst case tomorrow. Best of luck getting in on this one

Dan

The number of knives left is very small and will run out in the very near future.

Congrats to all the Dog's who got in on this one.

Enjoy

You bet.

For those Dogs who are thinking about a War Dog...don't think too long. I see the bottom of the stack and I suspect they are going to be gone here shortly

Dan

I am guessing that the re-release is a mistake and there are no more knives.

I'm guessing that it was a business decision and they decided to make more to supply a demand. Obviously any thing they do is going to make some happy and some unhappy. So they figured more would be happy than unhappy. Bottom line is they have to continue to make money in order to keep building the blades we all love. Every new model is a gamble and they don't really know how well it will do until it's out of the barn. So when you find a winner you need to run with it for a while.

I don't think they would be so near sighted as to make more and alienate the collector crowd. In business, integrity > short term profit

edit: perhaps a large order was canceled, but to actually make more to sell would feel like ... a violation to me. That's just my feeling though based on existing posts about the war dog's limited status.
Either way, the lack of communication from the shop is disturbing to me.
