I am guessing it was a mistake. I also wouldn't get too worked up about the lack of communication from the shop. It's a holiday weekend and if it were me I would be barbecueing and drinking. So I'm guessing that's where they are.

ToboTech, I'm guessing you weren't around for the SS4 release. It was also an LE but they offered a second batch of them also. They were from cancelled orders IIRC. It'll be interesting to see if it was an error with the store as that has also happened before. I doubt it will affect the price in the long run(six months from now) so your investment won't suffer, unless you need to turn it over now.

I'm guessing that it was a business decision and they decided to make more to supply a demand. Obviously any thing they do is going to make some happy and some unhappy. So they figured more would be happy than unhappy. Bottom line is they have to continue to make money in order to keep building the blades we all love. Every new model is a gamble and they don't really know how well it will do until it's out of the barn. So when you find a winner you need to run with it for a while. I don't think they would be so near sighted as to make more and alienate the collector crowd. In business, integrity > short term profit edit: perhaps a large order was canceled, but to actually make more to sell would feel like ... a violation to me. That's just my feeling though based on existing posts about the war dog's limited status. Either way, the lack of communication from the shop is disturbing to me. Indeed if they do business the way skorpyd thinks they wouldn't be any different from brands like Cold Steel, Benchmade,Gerber... They search afther a winning design and keep on making that design for years... But they are much different, most of the difference is in the way they offer knives and the service they give there buyers... (there are more things like the Yard, the quality ect...) I can't complain anymore because I ordered me a Extra War Dog.

SF45ACP and I used our War Dogs tonight in whipping up 14 pounds of venison chorizo and another 10 pounds of Italian sausage. I was ASTOUNDED at how well that 1/4"+ thick steel sliced through frozen venison and some frozen pork ribs I was also doing up. It is a fantastic blade and much better of a slicer than I would have thought. It certainly put to shame every knife in my kitchen drawer (which isn't very hard to do )
I say, keep that sucker in the store! I'm really not too concerned with keeping the prices overly jacked up on the secondary market (over $300 on ebay for a WD!!!!). If this puts more Scrap Yard INFI in more people's hands, then I say that's awesome! More scrap yard INFI from the factory is definitely a great thing. Those investing in Bussekin need a new financial advisor. Dan said limited in supply, not in future release. It's not marked LE, SE, or numbered. So why would people expect it to be one time release only? The war dog is my absolute favorite blade!

...Dan said limited in supply, not in future release. It's not marked LE, SE, or numbered. So why would people expect it to be one time release only? The problem with expectation is it leads to disappointment. But, to answer your question in Dan quotes: There is a limited number so when they are gone they are gone. plus Dogs:
The last War Dog was sold early this morning.
Congrats to all the Dogs that got in on this opportunity. Thats why I think either A. its a mistake or B. maybe some someone ordered a big order, then cancel if the knife isn't what they are looking for. But I would think B would include some message from the shop, hence why I think A. - it is a mistake. I will be very surprised if they actually manufactured more beyond the initial allotment of INFI.

I do hope it will be a permanent offer. Being affordable it will give people the chance to handle an infi blade. This experience will make some of these buying (more) Busse stuff, people who otherwise wouldn't be reached. If you want to invest in knives you can do it in the Busse custom shop (or in Randalls if the return is more important for you than the use) It would be great to give people that haven't got the funds available at the moment the chance of getting one of these later on at a reasonable price.
I don't find it near-sighted, in fact my respect for the bussekin would grow. There will always be limited offerings upmarket.

So, I'm thinking we are going to get some word on a new release real soon. There is something in the mood of the board. That's my psychic prediction for today.

Was just on BF and saw a post that War Dogs were back in the store.
Yes they are. Any Dogs that missed out come and get em. Dogs The War Dog is not available. We have a new person helping on the web site and he must have turned it on by mistake. Any orders that were placed since this error took place will be canceled. I apologize for any inconvenience Dan

[censored]. Thought, hoped, I could get a WD at the ScrapYard price, won't pay the investors... S'what happens when you come late to the party.
While the quality and design of SY knives is what pulled me into the yard it was the declared intent to make them available at affordable prices that has won my support for Scrap Yard Knives as a company. Quality knives in the hands, not the safes, of the working class stiffs; I'll line up for that. I will continue to wait for the next releases and hope they include another in the same class as the WD.
