Good points Skunk. I said my opinion and now I'm done. I am not one to continue on a rant unless it has something to do with a new piece of steel and maybe a squirrel.

So on to another topic. Do you think Dan will come through with the El Muk?

We're all adults here, and hopefully we can agree to disagree without getting nasty about it. Otherwise as I said above, we will all loose.

Honestly, i think he would have given you exactly what you wanted, but he can't. His ideology is plain for anyone who is willing to look at his past voting record and listen to him speak, but things become much more difficult when you have to deal with a Congress that is like several hundred children, all with different wants and needs and will only vote with you if you scratch their back. Add to it that he was only able to pass Obamacare through an underhanded loophole exploitation and that was when his party had complete control of Congress, and you see that the political landscape just won't let you make radical changes that quickly. Why do you think the left has spent the last 50 years appointing judges who will happily legislate from the bench, created a conservatively hostile liberal media and taken over a great number of our learning institutions? They realize that change is slow in coming, and you're only going to get there if you stack the deck in your favor.

Elmuk? I'm not sure. The "Muk" I think is to specialized a blade shape. I might be wrong as I do not have one and never have messed with a shape like that except as a dedicated skinner.

Those that have them say they are VERY versatile, put perceptions, right or wrong are what makes us buy one thing over another.

Now a 1/8 inch thick scrapmax (3.75 and possibly a 4.5 inch blade) would sell a million copies as it would be possibly the Yard's IDEAL bushcraft/jack of all trades blade.

I would personally MUCH prefer the 3.75, but NO MORE than 4 inch blade length from tip to Res-c.

I've always loved the "Muk" design, so an Elmuk would be heavenly for me. Something about the shape of the blade just makes me slightly euphoric. Add a mudder grip and i'd be in love.

That being said, i would agree with your assessment that a standard bushcraft style blade out of elmax with a res-c grip would probably be an amazing seller creating massive backlogs. I'd buy several in a heartbeat.

The scrapmax's are great. Dan really hit one out of the park on these. I have all three and each one has it's purpose. I think TD made mention of an Elmuk on one of the 1311 threads and Dan didn't rule it out.

Don't get me wrong Veshtan, I DO like the "Muk" style, but as I said I personally consider it a more specialized blade. Guess I'm showing my age here (again!). I as I said earlier, would consider a 1/8 inch thick Scrapmax 3.75 to 4.00 inch blade to be the PERFECT do most things blade. Again, the blade length from tip to Res-c.

Hmmmmm Wonder If I could get my own Max made 1/8 inch thick with a 3.75 inch blade and have Dan Do the Res-c for me?

Hey, it's not illegal to dream. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Maybe you should go to work for Dan designing knives?

I would agree, Skunk. I think that's why if they made a "true" bushcraft style blade as you're suggesting, it would be a huge success. You get the stainless qualities of Elmax mixed with the outstanding feel of res-c at a price point that is much lower than a number of other bushcraft makers compete at.
