Well I just learned something new by watching the Outdoor channel.

It seems that ARMSCOR weapons are made in the Philippens! Didn't know that. Probably just goes to prove I don't mess with guns all that much any more.

Wow, this was not my intent from my earlier post. I apologize if I may have stirred the pot. I am quite sorry.

What are we talking about?

After all this time I still find it amazing that the company owner will spend so much time interacting and LISTENING to his customer base.

That's a good point. I was in the mind set about rewarding those who have achieved JYD status.

Thanks for the feedback and keep thinking about what I can add to the program

Dan

I was thinking maybe JYDs would be allowed one "custom" from the yard per calender year. When I say "custom" I mean handle color and blade coating color and profile of past or existing models. NO satin DC Comp or bare metal finishes just to keep the spirit of the yard with Combat grade price point to performance. LE and SE will still be the hardest to get.

OK, now casting my mind back the FDM (MOAD to some less cultured than I) was not limited to JYDs but to folks who were a member by a certain date. The only advantage to being a JYD was that Dan would add your JYD # for free. Now in most books that JYD # will LOWER the resale value of the knife. Lets not confuse the prospect of an offering to JYDs and the FDM that was to members. And yes there was a fair chunk of the FDM sales that went to new members, but they are still sales for Dan.

I take more value from good sound input being received and worked on than any amount of special offers/extra discounts etc. The best ideas I have heard from this are the Test Team/Council as this can be used to shape future offerings and maybe the idea of holding back JYD# LE/SR blades for a period to allow the appicable JYD to have first refusal if you will - with a time limit of say a couple of weeks from release (that helps to keep folks hanging around the forum here as well).

Maybe some small amout of non-standard colour offerings for JYDs ?? I dunno but maybe it is workable. Patches/coins/stickers are of little interest to me T-shirts I use the hell out of and in fact I spent today in one of the older Yard shirts).

I mostly want Dan to listen to us about design and to keep making great knives with the right price v performance ratio.

There are some people on this forum that have an extensive knowledge/opinion of knives, steel, fit, durability, etc.

I'm not one of them, but I'm smart enough to listen to them and would be extremely interested in any of their opinions or test results of a new product.

One of my Christmas presents came directly from the folding knife thread.

I too am not a prolific poster, but I read the forums at least once per day. And I agree, being a member of the yard is more than be awarded a number. But if having that number is a real concern, offers that use the JYD number as a prerequisite could be a limited offer. One per JYD number on new pre-release offers for example.
