Almost everything Ruger builds is "overbuilt" with the possible exception of the polymer frame handguns.

They do use a crapton of investment cast parts in their guns. (They also investment cast parts for a lot of other manufacturers). Anyway, I broke the hammer on a Vaquero 44Mag after about 100 rounds. The dealer (largest in the state where the gun was bought) said he had never had one break (and he has 7000 guns IN STOCK).
