The Game Warden is a special offering through the Busse Company Store. That is why they aren't a "regular" production offering per se. Just like Randall does with Dealer Specials, Busse has done with the various Game Wardens, Heavy Hearts, Fat Outlaws, Mole Jacks and whatever else Skunk collaborates with Jerry on in the future. I believe this distinction makes the difference when considering the relative rarity of the Game Wardens at least when they first came out.
you missed my point. the game warden was made in sufficient numbers that it could have been made available as a regular item. why was it a BCS item only? not only that, the game warden is a different pattern. the heavy heart is just a fat FSH, the mole jacks were just a SJT with a special edge, the model t was an intermediate thickness MS, etc.
now you have this NEW knife that is hard to get because of the scalpers and a LOT of demand. what does this create? the perfect recipe for high resale values. the same thing happened with the swamp specials like the dog skinner, rat hunter, SAR rat, rat mastiff and rat daddy. NEW patterns, LOW inventory leads to HIGH resale values.
now the problem is that enough of these items (except maybe the dog skinner) were made and the demand was obviously high enough that it could have easily been a production item and could have easily sold ALL that they made. but they were not made again. and people went without these patterns that will never be offered again. that's the problem.
i understand if something like the custom shop SOW variant or the military overrun EU-17 are hard to get and they should be, BUT what prevents the company itself from selling a sure thing? when the "test" run of a knife sells out in MINUTES and there are 100+ people complaining that they didn't get one, why wouldn't you make it a regular item?
this comes off as critical to the company but it astounds me how such a successful company with military contracts and products that sell out in minutes cannot increase production...unless of course they don't want to... conspiracy? you decide...
