To me batoning is a technique that means my S6 can be nearly as useful a field knife as my DFCG without the weight penalty! If you don't think you can hit your 'super knife' with a wood baton without fear of damage- is that knife really a field or bush-craft knife?? Glad I collect Busse family knives, you can club 'em with 'no fear'...
