About the issue of edge retention. I always carry a folding DMT stone with me in the field. I'm not one that worries about edge retention on a work knife. As long as the steel is easy to sharpen and takes a quick edge on my DMT then I'm good to go. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
