When people either post pics or list the contents of there field kits I’m still surprised at how don’t include a some type of stone and steel. In this world of high tech steels I guess people don’t expect to have to sharpen there knives.
Sadly, I personally think this is because more and more people do not know how to sharpen their own knives. I think this is why there is the consumer driven push for these "super steels" to get super long edge retention. People do not consider that like everything in life, there are trade-offs. With that edge retention comes other properties that I personally do not like in a knife. Consumer misunderstanding driving the need for a new product......god don't get me started <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I see many, many threads with comments like "I will send it back after hunting season for sharpening...." and on and on. You get my point.
Use the heck out of it, and learn to take care of it. That should be my new motto <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
